IN North Liberty The 1996 4th of July Parade in North Liberty will start at 2:00 p.m. with line-up at 1:00 p.m. on State Road 23, south of the railroad tracks across from the American Legion Post Home. Winners of the parade will be announced approximately one-hour after the parade at the North Liberty Town Park. The theme for this years parade is “Music, Music, Music.’’ Please remember any kind of float is more than welcomed. Entry forms must be returned to John Dooms, 30901 St. Rd. 4, North Liberty, IN 46554 by July 2nd. The raffle tickets and applications are available at Ist Source Bank and Liberty Drugs and Emporium. The prizes are as follows: first place, $100; second place, $50.00; third, $25.00; fourth, five-pound fire extinguisher and fifth place, guess what. When you purchase a raffle ticket it helps to pay for the fireworks and the expenses of putting on the annual parade. You may also donate to the North Liberty 4th of July fund at Ist Source Bank. CHRISTIAN WOMEN TO GATHER The Marshall County Christian Women’s Club will meet on Wed., July 3, at 11:30 a.m. at the Balloon Wurks Restaurant, Holiday Inn, Plymouth. Historical Society Dedicates Three Sites 'fa Q / —_— WEST TROY ROOSEVELT & ADAMS West Troy was one of the early additions to the not yet Town of Walkerton, on the west edge of town where three railroads came together. The year was 1854 when 35 lots were plated in West Troy north and south of the old Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. This was later annexed into the town proper after the fact that Walkerton was incorporated in 1856. The railroad hub was due to the Baltimore & Ohio now the CSX; the Nickel Plate which is now the Norfolk Southern and the New York Central which no longer exists. The partial structure standing today is part of the original switching station. The passenger station and water towers have long been torn down. . _ (continued on Page 12)
Kiddies Day Parade Set In Walkerton The annual July Kiddies Day Parade is set for Saturday, July 6th, in Walkerton. Line up for the parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. behind the Walkerton Elementary School along with sign-up beside the Baptist Church. The parade will begin at 12 noon. The parade route will be from Clark Street to Georgia Street to the Walkerton United Methodist Church parking lot. Monetary awards will be presented at the parking lot following the parade for first, second and third place winners in each of the following categories: Me and My Pet, My Favorite Character, Float, Peddlers (bikes, trikes and big wheels) and an open class division. All are welcome to participate or just come on out and watch the young people

Float-A-Rama At Koontz Lake Sunday, July 7th The Koontz Lake Association has chosen B--100 (WBYT) as their main media outlet for this years Float-A-Rama, set for Sunday, July 7th, on Koontz Lake. The new format for this years event will be the judging and awarding of prize money. For the “Best Os Show’’ entry the prize is $125.00; first runner-up, SIOO cash; 2nd place, SSO and for third place $25.00 will be awarded. Line-up will be at 2:30 p.m. on July 7th at Dockside Restaurant, on the west shore of Koontz Lake with the parade to begin at 3:00 p.m. celebrate. There is no entry fee and if you have any questions or need more information call Cindy Keiper at 586-9488. Hope to see you at the upcoming parade. Also — Attention to all youngsters — Wrist Band Day at the Carnival in celebration of the 4th of July will be held following the parade on Saturday, July 6th from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Spend The 4th In Walkerton The Friends of the Fourth, in Walkerton, would like to announce that this year’s 4th of July celebration will begin on Wednesday, July 3rd with a new carnival to arrive in town. The Midwest Midways is bringing to town kiddie rides, four adult rides, games and concessions. The carnival will be located in the John Glenn High School parking lot, off of Georgia Street and will be here through Sunday, July 7th with something for everyone. The hours will be from 1:00 p.m. everyday until everyone goes home. The carnival will open at 12 noon on the 4th of July. Come down to the school and join us for a great time, young and old alike and try out the Tilt-A-Whirl, Sidewinder, Swings, Slide or for the younger ones the train, train/boat, spook house, bubble. Buy your tickets in advance and avoid the long lines and save $4.50. Wrist Band Day will be on Saturday, July 6th following the Kiddies Day Parade, from 1 tp 5 p.m. HOT AIR BALLOON COMING FOR CELEBRATION Weather permitting—-a hot air balloon glow will be a part of this year’s 4th of July Celebration. The “Friendship Enterprise’’ will be starting from the high school football field at 7:00 p.m. on July 4th. Come down and watch as they fill the balloon and cruise the town until 9:15

or 9:30 p.m. when they will “glow in the night” over the high school grounds. The balloon will then land back at the football field before the fireworks.
The fireworks will begin at dusk and after the hot air balloon glow at JGHS. There are three entrances to the field this year. One entrance will be in the parking lot off John Glenn Drive in the back of the school. The other two entrances will be from the parking lot off Georgia Street. Large signs above the entrances will mark them. Remember the fireworks are furnished entirely by donations from everyone who enjoys them. Please be generous as you go through the gates this year. Remember how much it costs to go out for an evening of fun — then dig into your pocket and donate to the 4th of July Celebration. The committee is working on some other entertainment for the evening of the 4th so come down and see or hear for yourself! Please Note — No fireworks, sparklers, grills or alcoholic beverages will be allowed on the grounds the day of the 4th. Police and security will be checking and don’t ruin your day be being asked to leave because you broke the rules! PARKING Do you have an area close or within walking distance to JGHS? Would you be willing to let cars park there on the 4th of July? If you answered yes to these questions, why not call one of the Friends of the Fourth and we will put your location on the map which will be in the paper prior to the celebration.
