PARENTING SESSIONS IN JULY “When is the best time to start potty training?” “How do I handle my two year old’s temper tantrums in public?” “When do I get my life back?” Every parent of a toddler or pre-schooler has these questions. And everyone they ask has an answer. But are they the right answers? Just as every child is different, the answers to the questions concerning that child’s development, temperament and behavior are different^ . ... That is why St. Joseph’s Hospital of Marshall County is offering a special New Beginnings Parent Education series on toddlers and pre-schoolers. The first class will be held on Tuesday, July 9, starting at 6 p.m. Subsequent classes will be conducted on the following three Tuesdays, July 16, 23 and 30. Each class is two hours long and there is no charge. Intended for parents of children two to five years - old, this series will assist parents in better inter- J preting the behavior of their : toddlers and/or pre- ’ schoolers. The classes will cover potty training, eating habits, temper tantrums and acting out; and help parents develop coping strategies to deal with these and other situations. These sessions will be taught by Nancy Schmelter, M.S., of Counseling and Educational Resources, who is the regular instructor of the New Beginnings Parent Education series. All the classes will be conducted at the hospital and the class size is limited so parents are urged to call 935-2678 or 936-9977 to register as soon as possible. *** The medical name for hay fever is pollinosis, which is what happens when the pollen reaches noses.
