VOICE OF THE PEOPLE

BUSY TIMES I think that Spring is one of the busiest times. Everything is gearing up for summer, if we ever have some sunshine, and I’m sure that we will have plenty. We have grass to mow about every other day, garden to plant and tend, activities for the kids and adults. I think that I am ready for a vacation, just thinking about all the work. There is a busy calendar for the upcoming week. On Saturday, June 15th, the Koontz Lake Association will be signing up members at the KLA Clubhouse, starting at 9:00 a.m. On Sunday, Father’s Day, the family of J. B. Williams is holding their

Tuesday at 6 a.m., breakfast will be served at Al’s for the quarterly meeting of the Walkerton Chamber of Commerce. The membership will be getting information on the various activities of the Chamber. So all you members that say we don’t do anything for the membership, be there! We’ve tried meetings in the evenings and at noon to be more convenient for you. We’re trying. Stop in and check out Grandma’s Attic, in downtown Walkerton. If you are wandering around in North Liberty, stop in at Mary Ellen’s. Also there are coupon books to be bought at Larry’s Quick

Mart for the Friends of the Fourth. The restaurant at the Kankakee Valley Auction Barn will open at 5 a.m. on Mondays for breakfast starting June 17th. They will be serving all day on Mondays. Hopefully, they will be opening more days later. Parking is getting better, so give it a try. I understand that we are going to have overcrowding at our Elementary Schools. Does this mean that the portables will be moved from Urey? How much is the remodeling at Urey costing us? I think that the school board should be telling us what’s up. Whenever I attend a board meeting, I don’t understand what is going on. Maybe we can have a news letter printed in the paper. The Taxpayers want and deserve an answer.
