Cook’s choice Salad bar Peanut butter/jelly FRIDAY No school for students Painting Os “Sisters” Wins At District “““’I gh J | ■ LU safest 'WB r: * 11111^* Jacinda Pairitz, a senior at John Glenn, received a first place award in the fifth annual Third District Congressional Art Competition for her oil painting entitled, “Sisters.” This is the third time a John Glenn students has been recognized for their artistic talents in this competition. Two honorable mentions have been captured by JGHS students in the past and they are Sadie Pairitz in 1994 and Crista Fry in 1995. Each spring, competitions are conducted in congressional districts around the country to select a single outstanding work of art by a high school student. Although only one piece of work from each district can be selected for the exhibit in Washington D.C., a second, third and fourth honorable mentions are also recognized in the local areas. Jacinda’s oil painting will be on display in the Capital Building beginning June 25th. The works, including

Jacinda’s and also an acrylic painting by Kay Hostetler, also a senior at Glenn, and one by Tyler Meuninck, a junior at Glenn, pen and ink pieces, will be on display at the South Bend Regional Museum of Art in the Century Center, from May 1724. A reception and presentation of the awards was given on May 17 at the Century Center. Congressman Tim Roemer was present to give out the awards.
