Registration For Fall Classes Set At St. Patrick's St. Patrick’s School will be keeping its doors open! Registration is being held now for the 1996-97 school year. There are openings in all classes. Children at St. Patrick’s benefit from the smaller teacher/pupil ratio. A more individualized education is offered for each student allowing them to learn at their own pace, be it slower or faster! Families are encouraged to participate closely in their child’s education. Christian and family values are stressed and children receive a sense of belonging to a large extended family. If you are looking for this type of atmosphere for your child’s education, call the school at 586-7405 for more information or to register. Patriotism Is Renewed At St. Pat's 'c um RUF -<-. v -• David Smith watches as the cement is poured to hold the new flagpole that was installed at St. Patrick School, in Walkerton, recently. St. Patrick School will boast a new flagpole to fly our nation’s colors. A grant from Ms. Janet Hiler enabled us to purchase a new pole to replace the one that has stood in front of the school for 40 years. The original pole, made of. segments of pipes, tended to “devour” the flag by twisting it into a locked position. The new, bona fide flagpole, will stand away from tree limbs in front of the school where the student body will daily be able to pledge allegiance. Dedication of the new flagpole will take place on Thursday, May 30, after the 8:15 a.m. mass. DRESS A DOLL CONTEST IN AUGUST The Dress-A-Doll contest will be held once again this year during the Potato Creek Festival, in North Liberty. This year the Teddy Bears have been added to the contest. Prizes sponsored by the St. Joseph County Public I Library will be awarded for
both bears and dolls for beginning, intermediate and advanced dressmakers. Dolls and bears may be picked up at the North Liberty Library at this time
Thoughts For Mother's Day
We all remember Mother on her special day. j We send her gifts and flowers and lovely cards that say w; How very much we thank her Tt for the things that mothers do, The sacrifices that they make; but when this day is through We’re prone to take for granted her precious love and care, The fact that when we need her, Mother’s always there. She will never mention it, nor ask for any praise. The joy of doing things for us is her reward always. But just the same, it would be nice, if we’d find time to say Just one small word of heartfelt thanks to Mother — every day!
