IN LOVING MEMORY OF A VERY SPECIAL LADY OUR MOTHER & GRANDMOTHER NINA SCOTT 1913-1992 Well, Mom’s face is wrinkled now Her hands-so tired and calloused The arthritis-its slowly creeping through, Old age-so very apparent Prevent it-is something we cannot do. She’s done the toiling-over the years gone past Raised her two daughters So they too, in this world would survive and last. I watch, she moves more slowly now Her health it fails more each dayEven walking, her feet, seem in the wayshe’s watching out the window, and a tear she slowly ~ wipes away. Wondering, secretly in her heart, If she’ll see her two daughter’s today. Hey grandma-You fixin’ hamburger gravy today? How often she hears their voices. Her precious grandsons, how fast they grew into adults God Bless this wonderful grandma they’ve known Why-she was there at each birth Diapers-Boy, she’s changed many She recalls those little hands & tiny fingers reaching out Grandma Can I have a penny? And another tear she wipes away. She heads for her faithful rocker What a friend that chair has been. She reaches for her Bible and the church program she’ll watch again. And she’ll “Thank the Good Lord” for things that have been. Then she’ll slowly rise and head for the kitchen Where meals, she has fixed many. Those homemade noodles, fried chicken and such She always had away of stretching the food. Even if there wasn’t very much. Think I’ll fix “dad” supper now she’ll say. Maybe I’ll bake his favorite pie. Her mind wanders again now, While she prepares the meal. I wonder if the girls know, how much I love them Do they really know how I feel? Then she’ll wipe another tear, and call dad in Remember in her heart, how things were in those times back when. Well, that’s my mom-she raised me well, To be as good a mom and grandma, as her only time will tell. To remember-she’s one in a million Trade her I would not. I thank Jesus everyday, for this precious “mom” I got. And if I forget to tell her “I love her” Less often than I should May the Lord then forgive me And touch my heart to recall That she, for me-endured through it all. These are our memories of you mom-Simple Ones. One never required the riches of life-when they knew they were loved! In our hearts we treasure those “simple things.” So, if there’s a very “Special Angel” watching from heaven above, you did matter most, you still do-in our hearts-you are missed!
