Spring Spectacular May 17 & 18 At At JGHS Friday and Saturday, May 17 and 18, at 7:30 p.m. marks John Glenn’s 10th annual Spring Spectacular. This years show is extra special in that all former show choir and jazz band members will be joining in the celebration with special musical selections in celebration of this very auspicious occasion. There will be two rehearsals for the Alumni joining the group on Thursday, May 9 and Thursday, May 16, from 7-8:30 p.m. We hope you will mark your calendars for all or any of the nights and join us in making the most “Spectacular” Spring Spec, ever! Advance tickets will go on sale Monday, May 6, at 7:15 a.m., at JGHS. Spring Fling At St. Pat's This Saturday r I $ Spring Fling awaits, like spring weather, just around the corner. St. Patrick’s Parish, Walkerton, will host the first area spring festival, on Saturday, May 4th. Events will be held in the school or in the parking lot at 811 Tyler Street. Events will begin at approximately 11 a.m. Spring Fling is a great family affair with a little bit of something for everyone. This year there will be crafters, a giant rummage sale, book sale, Nelson’s Golden Gio Chicken, cake walk, games, face painting, car wash and more. Stop in and check out the fun at St. Patrick’s Spring Fling on Saturday!

SPRING CLEAN-UP IN WALKERTON The annual Spring Clean-Up time, in ON MA Y 6-8

Walkerton, has been announced by the Walkerton Town Council, for May 5-8. The annual clean-up consists of the removal of furniture, appliances, mattresses, etc. from the curb side of your residence. There will be no alley pickups! Things that will not be picked-up include tires, brush, grass clippings or construction debris. Refrigerators, 1 freezers and air conditioners will be picked up only if the freon has been removed.

GRADUATES Todd Wathen will be graduating on May sth from the University of South Florida with a master’s degree in mental health counseling with a 4.0 average. Todd resides in Tampa, Florida and is the current choir director at Lealman United Methodist Church. He also is a volunteer at Tampa Aides Network. Todd is the son of Veryl Wathen and the late John Wathen, Walkerton. Todd’s address is 3404 Marlin Ave., Apt. 4, Tampa, FL 33611.

This Saturday, May 4th, there will be an Outdoor Lab Open House, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and lasting until 11:30 a.m. The two-and-a-half hours will be jam packed with exciting events. A schedule of events are available at Liberty Drugs and at the school. Some of the events include a falconer, free make and take souvenirs, wagonpulled tours and a pheasant release. Be sure to plan for your entire family to be there!

JG PROM To Be To Be Held May 11 The John Glenn High School Jr.-Sr. Prom will be held at the Pine Lake Inn, LaPorte, formerly the Holiday Inn, on Saturday, May 11. Activities will begin at 9:00 p.m. and conclude at midnight. After Prom activities will be held at the high school this year as interested students will be taking a bus trip on Sunday morning, May 12, to Six Flags Great America amusement park, in Gurnee, Illinois. The students have already signed up and will leave at 7:30 a.m. and return at approximately 9:00 p.m. It has been several years since the students have taken an organized trip to Great America and they will surely have a good time. As always, students are urged to have fun, but to act safely and responsibly during this exciting Prom season! Kindergarten Round-Up Tonight The John Glenn School Corp. Kindergarten RoundUp will be held today, May 2, at 7:00 p.m. at both Walkerton and North Liberty Elementary Schools, in their respecitve cafeteria’s. It is very important that all parents of children who will be five on or before June 1 attend this meeting. Parents will need to complete the registration forms, provide a birth certificate, sign up for screening along with other information and forms. Screening dates are May 23 and 24 at North Liberty and May 28-30 at Walkerton.
