John Glenn School Board Minutes CALL TO ORDER The Board of School Trustees of the John Glenn School Corporation met ip regular session on April 16, 1996, at 7:30 p.m., in the JG High School. All members were present with the exception of Shirley Anderson. The School Board, along with Superintendent David McKee and 15 observers, began the meeting with the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES The School Board minutes for the April 2, 1996 regular and executive session were approved by unanimous consent. APPROVAL OF CLAIMS A motion was made by Janice Ryan, seconded by Ben Smith, to approve claims numbered 574 through 702. The motion was approved by a six to zero vote. PATRON RESPONSE None. RECOGNITIONS Mr. Brent Kaufman, principal at North Liberty Elementary School, recognized and thanks the following individuals for donations at North Liberty School: Mr. Harold Clark for 15 bird houses for the Outdoor Laboratory; Mr. David Smith and his construction company, Practical Construction, for placing various exercise equipment on the playground and providing labor and cement necessary for the project; Mr. Mike Weiss for two loads of wood chips, stain and sealer for the Outdoor Lab; Mrs. Jami Vanden Bossche for her donation of wild flower seeds valued at S3O for the Outdoor Laboratory. A used Macintosh computer which included software and various miscellaneous equipment was purchased for S6OO several months ago through the NLES general account. Information given at a recent meeting recommended items of this nature be purchased from an interest account, therefore becoming a donation through the school’s extracurricular fund. Kindergarten Round-Up Set For Thurs., May 2 At JG Schools if The John Glenn School Corporation Kindergarten Round-Up will be held on Thur- ’w. C sday, May 2, at 7:00 p.m. The annual Round-Up will be held at both the North 3 Liberty Elementary School and the Walkerton Elementary School, in their respective uk cafeteria’s. up G It is very important that all parents of children who will be five (5) on or before UK jj June Ist attend this meeting. The school asks that the children do not attend these K G meetings with their parents. UK Sj During the Round-Up parents will need to complete the registration forms; have the nJ G birth certificate from the county in which the child was born checked; sign-up for up M kindergarten screening; receive dental and health information and forms; meet with R 5 G other parents to discuss car pools; receive the kindergarten handbook and receive an IK « explanation of the kindergarten programs. nJ G A legal birth certificate is required. The birth certificate can be obtained from the IK G County Health Department in which your child was born if you do not have one. SPRING CLEAN-UP IN WALKERTON ON MA Y 5-8
The annual Spring Clean-Up time, in Walkerton, has been announced by the Walkerton Town Council, for May 5-8. The annual clean-up consists of the removal of furniture, appliances, mattresses, etc. from the curb side of your residence. There will be no alley pickups! Things that will not be picked-up include tires, refrigerators, freezers, brush, grass clippings or air conditioners. Due to new laws the freon must be removed from air conditioners and this must be stated on any and all air conditioners before they will be permitted to be included in the pick-up.
Walkerton Town Council Minutes CALLED TO ORDER The Walkerton Town Council met on April 1, 1996, at 7:00 p.m., with 24 people present. ROLL CALL The following Council Members were present: Gene Reese, Walter Heil, Randy Hoover, Gordon Hartsell and Gregory Williams. Kathryn Chrapliwy, clerk-treasurer and Fred Jones, town attorney, were also present. MINUTES

Neighborhood Wutch Meeting On Tuesday, April 30, at 7:00 p.m., there will be a Neighborhood Watch meeting at the Koontz Lake Association Building with Sheriff Minix as the guest speaker. Everyone is welcome to attend this very important meeting.
The minutes of the March 18th meeting were approved by general consent. OLD BUSINESS Trash Pick-Up Bid Ac-cepted-The trash pick-up bid was awarded to Key Waste Services at $5.65 at unit. Council member Reese made a motion to approve the contract with special wording stating that all the bid specifications would be honored with Hoover seconded the motion for Key Waste Services and they were awarded the contract with a 5-0 vote. SPRING FLING RUMMAGE SALE MAY 4th St. Patrick’s is looking for rummage to sell at their Spring Fling Rummage Sale to be held on May 4th. The parish will be collecting materials for the sale, so if you are doing your spring cleaning and would care to donate some items, call Marianne Kemp at 5867511. The profit from the sale will go to help meet the schools needs. Please we ask for you to only donate clean clothes and items in working condition. MARSHALL CO. AARP TO MEET The Marshall County chapter of American Association of Retired Persons will meet on Thursday, April 25, at 10 a.m. in the First United Church of Christ, 321 N. Center Street, Plymouth, in the fellowship hall. Prior to the meeting a special blood pressure clinic will be held beginning at 9 a.m. in cooperation with the Marshall County Red Cross for any member of AARP attending. This is a free service. Guest speaker for the meeting will be Mr. Marc Hayden, director of Park & Recreational Activities, in Plymouth and surrounding areas. He will be presenting the plans for the spring and summer activities for

Truck Dedication & Open House Set For Sun., April 28 The Koontz Lake Volunteer Fire Department invites you to attend a Truck Dedication and Open House, on Sunday, April 28, at 2:00 p.m., at the fire station. Dessert and drink will be provided. The department is very proud of the newest addition to the fire equipment and it is hoped that you will come out and see it. JG Music Dept. Beginners Class • Meeting April 25 1 The JG Music Dept, announces the formation of a new beginning band class. Any student in the JG Corp, who is currently in the Sth grade is eligible to be in the 6th grade Cadet Band.
