Walkerton Town Council Minutes (Continued from Page 1) determine a fair wage scale. Williams said that if the two members wanted to do that that was fine, however, he did not think it would be beneficial because too many of the jobs were shared between the departments. NEW BUSINESS: a. BZA Recommendation on Klinedinst. Reese had been in attendance at the BZA meeting (Board of Zoning Appeals) which was held at 6 p.m. It was his understanding that Larry Klinedinst was given permission for the variances that he requested but that there were certain conditions that needed to happen. The condition was that a certain alley be vacated. Klinedinst was asked to petition for the vacation of such an alley.

b. Ambulance Write Offs. The clerk presented a list of ambulance run write offs in the amount of $4,692.03. The write offs go back as far as 1989. Reese made a motion to approve the ambulance write off list for $4,692.03, seconded by Hoover and the motion passed with a 50 vote. c. Triax Cable Business Office Change. It was announced that there will be a change in phone numbers for Triax Cablevision. For Customer Service the number is 1-800-274-4500 and for repair, 1-800-622-2531. d. President Williams/ Sawvel /Correspondence. The council president sent a letter to Sawvel & Associates on March sth and a response was received on March 11th. President Williams had some concerns that he wished to have addressed while we were in the ongoing negotiations with
NIPSCo. Sawvel & Assoc, responded to those concerns and will be meeting with the president in the near future. e. Eggleston Contract. A contract had been prepared by the town attorney for Ken Eggleston concerning the attendance and fee involved in Mr. Eggleston’s going to Apprentice Line Course conducted by NIPSCo. Hartsell made a motion to approve the contract, seconded by Hoover, the vote was 5-0 in favor. f. BZA Terms. Serving on the Board of Zoning Appeals are Roger Holston, chairman, three year term; Larry Klinedinst, vice chairman, four year term; Jon Viehe, secretary, four year term; Ed Walz, one year term and Robert Throm, two year term. DEPT. HEAD REPORTS Jeff Zehner-Wastewater & Streets. Supt. Zehner asked for the April 15th date to begin the 90-day hook-up period on the North Sewer Project. Hoover made a motion to approve the date of April 15th as the beginning of the 90-day hook-up on the North Sewer Project, seconded by Reese, motion passed with a 5-0 vote. Since the notice has been received on the Solid Waste Grant Mr. Zehner will begin preparing specifications on some of the items and proceed. Some consideration has been given to the alleys around the Little League Park. The firm of Lang and Feeney has given him some quotes on surveying the north and south alley and locating some of the property irons on the corners of the lots. Reese made a motion to allow the
alleys in question to be surveyed, seconded by Har- / tsell. Added to that motion was the improvements that would follow the survey. Dave Bolze-Electric & Water. Supt. Bolze announced that the electric map has been updated and has been turned over to Spectrum Engineering. The cost to have three maps produced from the additions will be between $1,200 and $2,000. Kenny Eggleston has completed the four day climbing school. The class consisted of 20 men and out of the 20 men only seven men passed the course. Layne Northern has begun cleaning the wells as of March Ist. Well No. 1 has been completed. Reese asked that Bolze relay back to Eggleston the entire councils congratulations on passing the climbing school. FINANCIAL REPORT The clerk submitted a financial report for Feb., 1996. CITIZEN INPUT Gordon Hartsell informed the council that people in town have been very careless about the trash in their yards. The police department has sent out letters recently to people who need to clean up their yards. Don Stahly informed the council that the grass that was hydroseeded was washed out with the flooding situation. Board to use the bleachers from Place Park. Elsie Heimer told the council that she had a number of people that needed to put in some hours of community service and wondered if the town could use the individuals. Gene Reese announced that the Housing Grant had just received additional monies in the amount of $50,000. A request was made by Pauline Klopfenstein to have the address changed on her property. At the present time the address reads 989 Lake Street. Her request was to have it changed to 127 Lake Street. Reese made a motion to accept the request for an address change and Hartsell seconded, the motion passed on a 5-0 vote. The Humane Society Contract for 1996 was signed by the council on a motion by Hoover and seconded by Hartsell. ' CLAIMS Claims 271 to 318 totaling $220,868.28 and payroll claim docket totaling $22,110.66 were approved on a motion by Hoover and seconded by Hartsell with a 5-0 vote in favor. ADJOURNMENT With no further business to come before the council the meeting adjourned on a motion by Hartsell, seconded by Hoover, the vote was 5-0.
