He was born on March 21 and joining his brothers, James, Gary and Michael, Hunter Jeremy weighed in at eight pounds and 13 ounces. Maternal grandparents are Gary and Sue Shields, Walkerton. North Liberty Family Selected As Nominee For “ Youth Baseball Family Os The Year” Honor As a new baseball season approaches, one North Liberty family is more excited than usual to return to the playing fields. The Bill Groves Family has been nominated for a very special honor — “Youth Baseball Family of the Year.” In celebration of the American family and its dedication to youth baseball, the makers of FRENCH’S Mustard, in cooperation with USA Baseball, are sponsoring a two-year search to honor a “Youth Baseball Family of the Year” in all 50 states. FRENCH’S Mustard is an official sponsor of USA Baseball, the national governing body of amateur baseball in the United States. From among the state winners, one family will be honored and recognized by FRENCH’S Mustard and USA Baseball at the 1996 Summer Games in Atlanta as “America’s Youth Baseball Family.” “For more than 90 years, the family has been of utmost importance to French’s,” said Sherri Kantor, senior product manager, Reckitt & Colman, Inc. “We are honored to recognize the dedication and enthusiasm that millions of families like the Groves’ display each year on ballfields across America.” Bill, Sue and their three children are dedicated to conserving youth baseball in North Liberty. Bill, president of the North Liberty Youth League (NLYL) for the past three years, has greatly healped to improve the facilities and programs of this small rural league. He oversees maintenance for both of the league’s fields; coaches his children’s teams and umpires Saturday games. Sue, works the concession stands, transports the kids to all their games, keeps records, etc. Will, 12, plays youth ball and umpires in the T-ball League. Andy, 11, also plays youth ball while sister, Mary, 9, plays in the girl’s softball Minor League. Nominations are being submitted by coaches, local league or school administrators, USA Baseball affiliated organizations, media, neighbors or friends. Families can even nominate themselves. The Groves’ were nominated by Sam Riggelman, USA Baseball State Delegate and Jeff Buysse, assistant baseball coach at Washington High School, South Bend. A special judging panel created by the makers of FRENCH’S Mustard and USA Baseball will examine ail nominees and will select 1996 state winners in May. The national winner will be selected from among the 1995 and 1996 state winners.
