Also present was Kathryn Chrapliwy, clerktreasurer for the Town of Walkerton. MINUTES The minutes of the meeting on Feb. 12th were read and corrected as such: “Gordon Hartsell said that unless they (Janice Stoneburner and Don Stanley) had a valid Certification he did not think that they should be allowed back on the service either.” “As a result of that discussion Mary Rollings and Ed Hughes resigned from the service (not Bill Miller and Ernie Rollings)” With those corrections the minutes passed on general consent. NEW BUSINESS
Hartsell asked Jean Brownlee if the Portfolio Calculator had been turned over to her when she became coordinator. Brownlee said she had not received a Portfolio Calculator from anyone. Hartsell said that information had been received from United Parcel Service that a Portfolio Calculator had been received by Mary Rollings on Jan. 26th. Elaine Stoneburner made a motion that a letter be sent the Mary Rollings requesting that the Portfolio Calculator be returned to the service immediately, seconded by Heimer, the motion passed with a 3-0 vote. A newly prepared contract was read aloud by Hartsell. The contract was prepared for all students going to the EMT Classes as their committment to the service. The contract was passed as the instrument to be used for the service on a motion by Stoneburner and seconded by Hartsell, the vote was 3-0 in favor. Hartsell made a motion to pay Keith Clark (who had paid for his classes over a year ago) when he presents a receipt showing that the classes had been paid for by him. Heimer seconded the motion and the motion passed with a 30 vote. It was announced that there will be a CPR Class, on Saturday, March 16, at the Fire Station. Heimer made a motion to remove the old radio out of the number 2 ambulance rig and install it in the bay, seconded by Hartsell. It was reported that Mary Rollings, Ernie Rollings, Ed Hughes and John Small have returned their radios. There are a number of radios still in the hands of people who no longer work on the service. Jean Brownlee presented her February Report for the ambulance service. The report was accepted on a motion by Heimer, seconded by Hartsell, the vote was 3-0 in favor. O-D Registration For Kindergarten Set All children who will be five (5) years old on or before June 1, 1996, need to attend kindergarten screening at Oregon-Davis Schools, on Thursday, April 11. Parents should call the Elementary School at (219) 867-2711 to set up an appointment for screening, which will be from 8:15 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. Appointments will be scheduled at 15-minute intervals to allow for individual attention. The screening will take approximately 90-minutes. Children will be involved in Health, Hearing and Speech and Developmental Screening. The purpose of the screening is to determine the best placement for each child within the kindergarten half-day or all-day programs. Parents will need to bring with them a legal (not hospital) birth certificate and immunization record. The birth certificate may be obtained by contacting the Health Department in the county in which the child was born. If immunization is not now complete, it must be completed before Sept. 1, 1996. Parents will receive a Kindergarten Handbook and forms for the physician and dentist to complete. These forms need to be returned by the first day of school in August. Any preference for morning or afternoon sessions must be made the day of screening; however, there are several factors considered in making class assignments. Please call the Oregon-Davis Elementary School to schedule an appointment. The number again is 867-2711.
they want to remain in the class. The clerk was asked to write letters to the Fire Dept, and Park Dept, thanking them for their help in providing a place to hold the EMT’s classes. It has been requested that new calling cards be obtained for the coordinator and the board members for their use in making long distance calls for the service. It was mentioned again that the locks on the doors in the ambulance bay need to be rekeyed. Jon Meyer is going to take care of this matter. The child care system that was set up with Ms. Julie Morton was reported to have been used two times in the last week by Cheryl Matovich. Larry McLean informed the board that because of the new restrictions on the ambulance concerning maintenance and mileage, he has purchased two diaries to record the maintenance and mileage in. The clerk was asked to inquire about the coverage of the EMT’s on the ambulance service. She is to report back to the service on her findings. Randy Hoover asked about the possibility of the
ambulance service setting up a fall class. Hartsell said that he was not sure the 1996 budget could handle an additional class. Permission was granted to use ambulance rig No. 1 for public relations works twice a year for those people who would be on call at the time providing the coordinator was informed at the time of use. Hartsell made the motion which was seconded by Stoneburner. With no further business to come before the board the meeting adjourned on a motion by Hartsell, seconded by Heimer.
