WALKERTON FLORIDA LUNCHEON The Walkerton-North Liberty Florida luncheon will be held on, Monday, Feb. 5, at Crawford’s, in Avon Park, Florida. A social hour will begin at 11 a.m. followed by the luncheon at 12 noon. The menu consists of roast pork, turkey, potato, vegetable, salad bar, dessert and drink. Cost will be $11.50 which includes tax and tip. Reservations should be made by Jan. 31, by calling Doris Van Dine, at 941-385-8578, Sebring or Iva Clark, 941-465-5873, Lake Placid. IMPROVEMENTS & 1995 BURIALS AT NORTH LIBERTY Have you noticed the improvements in the Eastlawn and Westlawn Cemeteries, in North Liberty, that were completed in 1995? At Eastlawn Cemetery there is a new drive entering on State Road 4 along the west side of the Post Office, running north pass the Veterans Memorial to the north edge of the cemetery, turning west to connect with the old drive. At Westlawn Cemetery a new garden has been added in the circle as you enter the cemetery. It is called “Memory Gardens.” This garden is for cremations only. The benches will hold ashes enough for four people each. There is a scatter grounds in the ivy around the flag pole. If you are interested in cremation it would be worth your while to take the time to find out more about it by calling the cemetery office at 656-4615. REAL SERVICES NEWS On Monday at the Walkerton REAL Services site, Hazel and Harold Schweder were in charge of the program for the day and it seemed like months since they have been here due to the holidays. Hazel told some jokes while Harold took care of the book work. On Tuesday our site director, Betty Clapper, read a couple of short stories from the REAL Services newsletter and then Eleanor Leming gave the table prayer. On Wednesday the jucie winners were Della Scott, and Marilyn Stahl. Eleanor Leming asked the blessing before the delicious meal. Thursday we had a large attendance despite the heavy snow. Vi Wolff and her troup were here to entertain us and we all enjoyed this very much. We; want to thank the Town Employees for the beautiful job of cleaning up the snow and shoveling our walkways so that we could get into the Youth Building for our gathering. We really do enjoy attending the meals and entertainment at the site. The table prayer was given by Eleanor Leming. Friday is our sing-a-long day with Verice Walz at the piano and Virginia Anhold leading the singing. Eleanor Leming gave the table prayer. On Friday, Jan. 19 we will have Florence Seeking and Verl Haag here to entertain and then on Jan. 31 we will see the return of Vi Wolff and her troup. A Paul and Betty Thiede, of 2360 E. 600 N, Windfall, IN, are the parents of a baby girl, Stephanie Ann, born on Jan. 8, at 8:23 a.m. in Howard County Hospital. She weighed in at six pounds and seven ounces and measured 19‘/a inches long. Maternal grandparents are John and Phyllis Dolph, of Plymouth and great-grandparents are Howard and the late Ruth Roush, of Plymouth.
