Mishawaka. Parents of the bride are Al and Dianne DeMaegd, of South Bend and the groom’s parents are Ellen Mollenhauer, of Walkerton and Michael Mollenhauer, of LaPorte. The bride is a graduate of Riley High School and she attended Ball State University and IUSB. She is currently employed by Liberty Mutual. The groom is a graduate of John Glenn High School and is currently employed by Meijers and is a Centre Twp. Vol. Firefighter. Matron of honor was Juli Turrell, Mishawaka and bridesmaids were Karen Waterman, Bedford; Becky Mollenhauer, Walkerton; Denise Moore, Lakeville and Shelly Johnson, South Bend. Serving as best man was Tod Brems, Walkerton and

groomsmen were Tom McCormick, North Liberty; Troy Rozwarski, Lakeville; Ron Baker, South Bend and Doug Sarratore, Niles, ML Samantha Starr, LaPorte, was the flower girl and ring bearer was Christian Hoffman, son of the bride. Kip Bell and Scott Bell, LaPorte, were ushers and Jennifer Hoffman, Mishawaka, read from the book of 1 Corinthians. A reception followed in the church with dinner and dancing. Joseph Pletcher Leadership Award Winner . jib Each year the National Association of Secondary School Principals and Herff Jones, Inc., co-sponsor the Principal’s Leadership Award. The purpose of this award is to allow high school principals across the nation to recognize one senior from their school as an outstanding leader. The program will provide 150 scholarships of SI,OOO each. Students must rank in the upper 20 percent of their graduating class. John Glenn High School has selected Joseph Pletcher as their local winner of the Principal’s Leadership Award. Joe will receive his certificate of merit at the senior awards ceremony this spring and his application will be submitted to the National Selection Committee. This committee will assess each applicant’s participation in service organizations, clubs and athletics; special recognition; honors and awards and academic record. Joe is the son of Dirk and Kay Pletcher, 505 Indiana Street, Walkerton. He is a member of the JG HOPE peer helpers program and works on a committee to plan special activities within the school. He has also attended the HOPE training workshop and other leadership conferences. As a four year member of the band, Joe has played in the concert band, jazz band and pep band. He is on the band council and is a section leader. Joe is also a four year member of the student council and has been a strong part of this influen-

tial group of student leaders. In athletics, Joe has been a member of the tennis team for four years and was team captain this year. Joe received All-State Honorable Mention in tennis and has received awards for mental attitude, Most Valuable Player awards and the Coach’s Award. In October, the faculty selected him as the Student of the Month because of his academic achievement, citizenship and service to the school. The student council also voted Joe the Falcon of the first nine weeks because of his success in tennis, his involvement in school activities and his achievement in the classroom. A three year member of the National Honor Society, Joe consistently achieves honor roll status and is a candidate for the Academic Honors Diploma. Joe is considering the fields of medicine or engineering and is exploring his college options which include Butler University, Purdue and DePau w.
