Jean & Lynn Brownlee We would like to thank our family, friends and neighbors for the many lovely cards and notes and gift and for those who came to help us celebrate our 70th wedding anniversary. It was such a special day. A special thanks to our children, Joann Persinger, Gordon and Ruth Ann Persinger, Gene and Johnnie Pearish and to our grandchildren, Mitch and Carol Pearish, Matt and Pam Pearish, Mark and Jrenda Pearish, Greg and Vlisty Brovoid and Mike ?ersinger and friend, Jill and to each of our greatgrandchildren who made this such a special time for us all. Also we wish to thank Pastor D. O. VanDyne for making our anniversary so special too. Ralph & Velma Persinger I sincerely thank all of the fire departments that worked so diligently when my business, The Starlite, burned. Also to all the police officers and town employees for their work. You are very much appreciated. I am planning on rebuilding in the near future. Thanks again. Delores Sons This thanks is a little late in coming, but it hasn’t been forgotten, if anything it has grown. First, I hope the community realizes what a dedicated and well-trained fire department we have here in Walkerton. I am very proud to be a part of this group. I know of no other department that is better. If you share my view, the next time you see one of your firefighters, let them know you appreciate them and the job they do. Larry Dill Chief W.V.F.D. The Walkerton Fire Dept, wants to thank the following fire departments and other services for their help at the fire we had at the Starlite Inn on Oct. 16, 1995. First we want to thank the following departments khat we train with and meet with regularly: Koontz Lake, Polk Twp. and North Liberty. Without their timely arrival and being
able to work as one unit, things would have been a lot worse. Also to the Plymouth and Bremen Depts. for their aerial units and to Hamlet, Lakeville and LaPaz for the manpower and equipment which was needed. Thanks also to the Salvation Army 511 Canteen truck for the drinks and donuts; to the Walkerton Police Dept.; the Walkerton Utilities Dept, and the Walkerton, Starke County and Community Ambulance Services. What a great job they all did. Our hats are off to the dispatcher on duty, Mary Greenwood, she was handling six (6) different departments plus all the phone calls. No we haven’t forgotten you Cheryl, even tho we have come to expect this from you. Dispatcher, Cheryl Campion, got out of bed and hurried to the dispatch center to help Mary which we are sure she needed. No pay, just to help out in a time of need, that is our Cheryl. We like to think she does this because she likes us! Also special thanks to our wives for the drinks and donuts they brought and carried to the firefighters that were unable to leave their positions. Your help was greatly appreciated. Last but not the least, a special thanks to Subway for the sandwiches. Around 10 a.m. after the fire was under control and things had calmed down and with hours of work ahead, everyone was exhausted, wet, cold and sore when down the street came two gentlemen carrying two large boxes full of sandwiches. Nobody asked them to do this, the owners got together and just did it. Many thanks guys’ It sure hit the spot and I know a lot of firefighters will remember this the next time they get hungry. Once again many sincere thanks to all the people who helped us and as chief, my thanks to my officers and men who did an outstanding job. Also to the officers and men and women of the other departments for pitching in when they were needed. We are really proud of all of you. Thank you all again. Walkerton Vol. Fire Dept. On Oct. 23 we lost everything to a fire at our home. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the many businesses, individuals, friends and neighbors for all of your help.
