I ribs and knees. He was treated for his injuries and | released the same day. Kara, however, was not as “fortunate” as she sustained severe head trauma, arriving in a combative state. It took many hours to complete the necessary testing, at which point she lapsed into a coma. She remained comatose with a poor prognosis until late Wednesday. It is within this intense time frame that my family and friends contacted their churches, who in turn contacted their pastors and Kara was placed on a prayer chain that stretched for thousands of miles. It is because of this out pouring of love and concern that Kara is convalescing at home and doing fine. I am sure that the readers of this

article will agree that there is nothing too great, no situation too dismal for God to handle. Thank you EMT’s, those who were first to arrive on the scene, and anyone who might have helped Kara and Danny. Thanksgiving now bears a new meaning for me and my family. Karen Holmes As I awoke on November 21, 1995, never in a million years did I imagine what would take place on that day! I received a phone call from my nephew, Danny Holmes, a little after 8 a.m., only to tell me my worst nightmare . . . that my niece Kara, Danny and a dear friend, Heidi Lynn had been in an automobile accident on State Road 23. For a brief moment I was frozen with fear and time stood still. We were told that Kara could possibly have to have surgery because of the head trauma, a possible broken neck and/or a fractured jaw, plus they were sure of internal injuries. Thank God after alot of testing, this was all speculation. However, she was unconscious for a day and a half. Danny had stithces on his face and other facial cuts. Heidi Lynn also had facial cuts and lacerations from the seat belt. Kara was in ICU (intensive care unit) until later that day due to her rapid recover and steady improvement. She will be coming home on Saturday.
