Walkerton Town Board Minutes The Walkerton Town Council met at 7 p.m., on Nov. 6, with the following members present: Cheryl Rizek, Gene Reese and Gordon Hartsell. Attorney David Holmes and ClerkTreasurer Judy Hiler were also present. The minutes were approved as read. Bill Dutton, project inspector for Wightman Petrie, gave an update on both sewer projects. He said the South Sewer Project is virtually over. Oselka has submitted a pay request, and ten percent will be retained. The retainage won’t be released until the job is completed. Dutton reported that the North Project is going great and the restoration work has been good. Fire truck bids were reviewed: Wolverinesl99,B6B.oo plus $47,089.35 for equipment, KME- ’ $195,811.00 plus $37,999.00 for equipment and Pierce5266,798.52 including the equipment. Larry Dpi, Fire Chief, said they reviewed the bids and found that they all meet or exceed the specifications. KME’s bid also included a five percent discount on any equipment ordered from them within thirty days of approval of the contract. Dill said that the Fire Department’s
review committee recommends the KME bid. Gene Reese made the motion to accept the KME bid. Seconded by Hartsell. Carried. Dill reported that they have contacted Korbuly-Graf-Weber to do the preliminary drawings for the fire station addition. Steven Tripp, Triax Cable, told the Council that the first draft of their new franchise proposal should be here in about 45 days. A public hearing will be held the first part of the new year. Tripp answered several questions from citizen’s who were conceri ned about the reception of | a couple of stations, and also asked if certain other programming can be offered to Walkerton. Greg Miller, Miller Insurance and Real Estate, had previously submitted a quote of $21,129.00 annual premium for worker’s compensation insurance. Ed Walz had also submitted a quote for this insurance, through IPEP, with a premium of $19,391.00. After some discussion, the Council decided to table a decision in order to review the quotes a little better. Two petitions for annexation were submitted to the clerk’s office.
