JG Drama Club To Present Play Nov. 17 & 18 The JG Drama Club is pleased to present its first production of the year when they bring Neil Simon’s heavenly comedy, GOD’S FAVORITE to the stage for an evening of laughs. The production is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Nov. 17 and 18, at 7:30 p.m., in the high school auditorium. Neil Simon is hailed as one of the masters of American comedy, having written such shows as THE ODD COUPLE, BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS and THE PRISONER OF SCEOND AVENUE among others. The plot for GOD’S FAVORITE is based loosely on the biblical story of Job, a faithful man who endures great hardship to prove his faith. Simon has updated the play to the current day as he presents the story of Joe Benjamin, a rich businessman who is confronted with a moral dilemma as he discovers that he has become the object of a bet between God and Satan. As Joe struggles to keep his faith he must also try to keep his dysfunctional family together and his life intact, all with humorous results. Throughout his suffering, Joe is tormented by a “messenger” named Sidney Lipton, a working stiff with bad eyes and a love of movie trivia. If Sidney can’t get Joe to win the bet, he will lose his job and his dream of moving to Florida. This production stars veteran actors Justin Denham, Kelly Tingle, Chad Miller, Micky Day, Rachel Lichtenbarger, Amy Dooms and newcomers to the stage, Chris Jacobs and Jeremy Carey. The student directors are Mandie Stafford, Kay Hostetler and Adam Koch. The entire production is directed by Mr. Richard Fansler. Tickets are available at the door and are priced at $3.00. Join the John Glenn Drama Club for a night of entertaining theatre. It will bring a smile to your face! We’re living in the land of plenty — everything we want costs plenty.
