MEET THE JR. MISS CANDIDATES The Epsilon Chi chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa would like to introduce the 17 Junior Miss candidates for the 1995 Walkerton Area Junior Miss Scholarship Program to be held this Saturday, October 28, at the John Glenn High School auditorium, beginning at 7 p.m. Rebecca Lyn Mashon is candidate number one. She is the daughter of Jeff and Angela Buysse and Ronald Mashon. A senior at John Glenn High School, Rebecca has been involved in Basketball, Tennis, SADD, Art Club, Yearbook, Newspaper and Class Board. She has held offices in the Art Club and on the Class Board. Rebecca enjoys tennis, horseback riding, softball, basketball, volleyball, 4-H, sewing and crafts. She is planning to attend Purdue and major in veterinary medicine. For her creative and performing arts presentation she plans a comedy routine. Sarah Elizabeth Martin is candidate number two. She is the daughter of Terry and Carol Martin. A senior at John Glenn High School, Sarah has been involved in Art Club, French Club, National Honor Society, a participant in Exploration of Careers in Science at Indiana University, Bloomington, Purdue Junior Scholar, Social Studies and French, Office Aide, Library Assistant, President’s Education Award, Class Board, Spell Bowl, Basketball, Tennis, Tri Kappa Art Show with a first in drawing and a second in photography. A senior at John Glenn High School, Jennifer has been involved in Cheerleading and was chosen Football Homecoming Queen. She enjoys cheerleading, modeling and water skiing. Jennifer is planning to attend Arizona State to pursue her career ambition in modeling. For her creative and performing arts presentation she plans to perform a dance. Candidate number four is Robin Marie Bean, daughter of Robin Lee Bean and Deborah Jean Bean. Robin is a senior at LaVille High School. Her honors, club and activities include L.V. Varsity, Student Conservation Corps, A.V. Club, German Club, Club Spirit, Speech Club, Art Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Library Aide, Phys Mentor for an Elementary student. Academic Quiz Bowl, Medals for district and state singing, Teacher’s Aide and SADD. Robin’s hobbies include sports and talents including freshman basketball, J.V. and Varsity golf, J.V. and Varsity track, Madrigals (Medieval Vocal Group), High School Choir, Trainer for Phoenix Assistance Dogs, 4-H (Secretary), Dog Training, Pottery, 4H State Choir and two firsts at State Fair in Dog Drill Team. Her plans are to attend Northwest Community College in Wyoming to study Animal Science/Music. For her creative and performing arts presentation she will be singing. Candidate number five is Tanya Lucille Cain. She is the daughter of Carla and Mike Cain. Tanya is a senior at John Glenn High School where her honors, clubs and activities include Crimson Guard, SADD Advisor and Vice President, Peer Counselor, Indiana Teen Institute Delegate, Falcon Flyer Staff Editor, Yearbook
and Aerial Staff, Stage and Light Crews, Marching, Concert and Pep Bands. Her hobbies include sports talents are singing, dancing and writing poems. Her plans are to attend 1.U.5.8. with a career ambition to become and interpreter. For her creative and performing arts presentation she will do a recitation of an original poem. Rachel Lanae Lichtenbarger is candidate number six. She is the daughter of Randy and Ramona Lichtenbarger. A senior at John Glenn High School, Rachel has been involved in Spanish Club, Ecology Club, SADD Club President, Drama Club, Peer Helpers, Show Choir Section Leader, Concert and Marching Band Section Leader, Pep Band, Jazz Band, Homecoming Court, Falcon Follies participant, Perfect Attendance, Honor Roll, ITI participant, Div. I State Solo and Ensemble-Choir, Div. I State Solo and Ensemble-Band, Yearbook, Newspaper, Aerial publication staff, part-time job and a Youth Group member. She enjoys playing the flute, saxophone and the paino, singing, dancing and reading. For her creative and performing arts presentation, she plans a comedy presentation of vocal, piano and the flute. Tisha Lynn Jacobson is candidate number seven. She is the daughter of Lowell and Cynthia Jacobson. A senior at John Glenn High School, Trisha has been involved in Marching Band, Concert Band, Art Club, French Club, Cheerleading and Poms. She enjoys singing, playing instruments, art, gymnastics, yoga, reading, charting astrology and exercising. Tisha is planning to attend Cleveland Institu’e of Art to major in Art. For her creative and performing art presentation she plans to sing a Teri Amos song. Misty Rose Young is candidate number eight. She is the daughter of Terry and Debbie Young. A senior at Knox High School, Misty has been involved in Volleyball, Marching Band, Flag Corp, Cheerleading, Sandra Lee Studio of Dance, working with small children at school and at a day care center, helping the elderly, Track, Basketball and Powder Puff Football. High school honors, clubs and activities involve Prom Court, Cheerleader MVP, Who’s Who Among American’s High School Students, selected to participate in the National Pride Conference, Indianapolis, second runner-up to Miss Mint Pageant, most spirited Cheerleader, Presidential Physical Fitness Award, Spirit Committee and Guidance for Youth Group. Misty is planning to attend Purdue University and major in elementary education. For her creative and performing arts presentation she plans to dance. Candidate number nine is Kelly Jo Tingle. Her father and stepmother are Gary and Kathy Tingle. Her mother and stepfather are Sue and Kevin Moriarty. Kelly is a senior at John Glenn High School. Her honors, club and activities include French Club, Ecology Club-education officer, HOPE, Freshman Board, Sophomore Board, Student Council President, DARE, Drama Club, Newspaper, Yearbook, Aerial Staff, North Liberty United Methodist Youth Fellowship and Honor Roll. Kelly’s hobbies, sports and talents include varsity track, cross country-men-
tal attitude award, poms, reading and love acting with a special flair for accents. Her plans are to attend Indiana University, Bloomington, with a career ambition in communications. For her creative and performing arts presentation she will do a comedic poetry reading. Julia Danielle Holtz is candidate number 10. She is the daughter of Cindy and Jeff Holtz. As a senior at John Glenn High School, Juli has been involved in French Club, Art Club, Cheerleading, Poms and Swing Choir. She enjoys hobbies, sports and talents in reading, swimming, singing and dancing. Juli is planning to attend Arizona State and major in Communications. For her creative and performing arts presentation she plans to sing "Grandpa” by the Judds. Candidate number 11 is Christina Marie Bierly. She is the daughter of Norman and Mary Bierly. Christina is a senior at John Glenn High School. Her honors, club and activities include member of the Falcon Pride, Concert Band, first place award at ISSMA State Solo and Ensemble contests in percussion ensemble, Appreciated Helper Award from MOMH program, Spanish Club and Future Homemakers of America. Christina’s hobbies, sports and talents are 4-H competition with Grand Champion and Best of Show, exercising, walking, ballet dancing and performing in recitals, playing percussion in the high school band and a member of the Walkerton United Methodist Church and Youth Group. Her career ambition is to become a flight attendant. For her creative arts presentation she will be performing a marimba solo with ballet dance. Jacinda Mae Pairitz is candidate number 12. She is the daughter of Jon and Tammy Pairitz. A senior at John Glenn High School who has high school honors, clubs and activities in Art Club-president, numerous awards including two Gold Keys, one Hallmark, two Best of Shows and two Most Popular; Spanish Club, 4-H with various awards including seven Grand Champions and four State Fair entries; Church Youth Group-president; District Gold level awards in Fine Arts, Photography and Journalism; Church Camp (S.E.P.); All-Star Basketball team, school newspaper staff, Yearbook staff and Aerial editor. Jacinda enjoys riding horses, drawing, photography, basketball, volleyball and track for church team, write short stories and poems and basically finding anyway possible to put a smile on someone’s face. Her plans are to attend Ambassador University to follow her career ambition as a writer. For her creative and performing arts presentation she plans to do a reading of one of her own stories. Candidate number 13, Dolores Enriqueta Godoy, is the daughter of Rafael and Maria Godoy. Dolores is a senior at Oregon-Davis High School. Her honors, clubs and activities include Honor Roll, Honor’s Reading Seminar, Who’s Who Among American High School Students, United State Achievement Academy’s "All-American Scholar”, Spell Bowl, Academic Team, Science Club, Spanish Club, Library Aide, Teacher’s Aide, Future Homemakers of America and 21st Century Scholars. Dolores’ hobbies, sports and talents are volleyball, reading, horseback riding, swimming and dancing. Her career ambition is to be involved in hotel/restaurant management. She enjoys varsity cheerleading, poms, track, JV cheerleading, playing the paino, dancing, sewing, singing and aquarium aquatics. Stephanie is planning to attend Indiana University to become an orthodontist. For her creative and performing arts presentation she plans to do a jazz/funk dance. Heather Marie Parks is candidate number 15. She is the daughter of Robert and Nancy Parks. She is a senior at John Glenn High School. Heather has been involved in Art Club, French Club, Pom Pons, Flag Corps, Spell Bowl, Ecology Club and working a job. Her hobbies, sports and talents include varsity track, varsity cross country-captain, most improved runner award winner, 4-H dog obedience with six years of State participation and captain of the Dog Drill Team. The offices she has held include treasurer of the National Honor' Society and treasurer and vice-; president of the Spanish Club. Other honors Sandra has achieved are Wendy’s Heisman Award, Athlete of the Month, Track-Weights Leader and MVP; co-captain, Spirit and Dedication Award of Cheerleading;( nominated for Tour of Champions, Dance Competition winner, basketball Most Improved Player and a volunteer guide at the Knox Courthouse. Sandra’s hobbies include basketball, * cheerleading, track, water skiing, - gymnastics, writing poetry, dancing 1 and listening to music. After graduation she plans to study psychology at Purdue/Indiana University.
