Dill said that he has a problem with the layout of the booths, on Harrison Street, for the Pumpkin Festival. He said that there wouldn’t be enough room to get fire trucks down the street, if needed. Nedra Williams said that the committee has moved all the booths onto the lot behind Mahoney’s Body Shop, but would still like to close Harrison for foot traffic. Harrison Street will be open for local traffic only. Monthly Reports: the police report was reviewed and accepted. Chief Sobieralski reported that he has sent out fifteen tall grass and weed letters, since June, and all but,one person has complied. He said that there has been a tremendous response to the Housing Rehabilitation Grant. They have received forty-nine applications, and will soon be reviewing and narrowing them down. Behr checked with Housing Assistance and found that the Town could be required to spent up to $20,000 in 1996 as grant match for this program. Is was verified that the Economic Development Revolving Fund can not be used as match for the Housing Rehabilitation Grant. Behr further reported that he has been in contact with an industry that’s considering locating in Walkerton. Their electric needs would be quite large, and this is still in the talking stage. Behr said that the Town’s contract with the Walkerton Economic Development Corp, calls for the Town to make payment of $7,500 each, on May 30th and November 30th. Citizen’s Input: Rick Hoffman and Don Stahly, representing Walkerton Junior League Baseball, tola the council that they had 224 kids enrolled last year and they need to expand. They need to add another ball diamond, and they think that there is enough room to add another diamond behind the current one at the Little League Park. They would like to clear the brush out along Premdor’s fence line, and would like to use our chipper to do the job. Dave Bolze helped them to figure the cost of installing the lighting for the new diamond, and it came out to

Reese made the motion to allow the use of the chipper. Seconded by Hartsell. Carried. Stahly said they still need permission to put the diamond in, they need to know if the Town can help, them install the lighting and also If they will be charged for electric usage next year. Attorney Walter recommended that, to begin with, they get the property surveyed. Rizek asked that they bring this back to the council after the property is surveyed, for a decision.
