Members of the Walkerton Area Chamber of Commerce held their quarterly meeting on Thursday, Sept. 14, at Swan Lake Golf Academy. The Swan Lake Golf Academy is located in “Plymouth.” Enough said! KID’S FIRST Hello! First of all I would like to thank all of the 157 people who have signed up to become a member of the WES PTA. We appreciate your support. members a PTA has, the more can be accomplished for the children. Also, I would like to extend a big thank you to Joey’s Pizzeria for being gracious enough to sponsor a pizza party to the class with the highest PTA members. If you wish to become a member of the WES team, please call the school and we’ll get back with you. Remember, “our children come first.” Angie Glennon WES PTA Membership Chairperson NO GOSSIP Well, I guess that I won’t be writing a gossip column just yet. I really would like to write a column like Hedda Hopper, but I don’t think that I could get-away with it. If the people of Johnson Township have any news, please get it to me. The Johnson Township Reunion is coming up on the 24th, at the Johnson Township Building. This is a fun time and a great time to hear the happenings of former times in the area. Bring a dish of food, your own table service and a white elephant for the auction. The Pumpkin Festival is getting
bigger. We now have about an even number of food and craft booths. The placemats will be out this week at the local eating places. When you look at these, please remember to utilize the various advertisers businesses. These retailers and business people are very generous, considering that they are being asked by every organization for a hand-out. So again we say Thanks! We made five gallons of tomato juice this week and I have canned over 50 quarts of whole tomatoes. It seems that we wait all summer for tomatoes an then when they arrive, we grumble. At least I do. The goodies have arrived at the Kankakee Valley Auction bam on Monday nights. The produce is getting more of the fall and winter storage variety, such as squash an pears. Last Monday I bought a box of cookies for $2.00. I got 36 packages of good coconut cookies. It looks like Walkerton will have an interesting election One of the losing candidates has already filed suit over the convention. Just be sure and vote. The Chamber of Commerce had its quarterly meeting last Thursday at the Swan Lake Golf Academy.

There was a good turnout of members and guests. Several candidates for the local election were also in attendance. Kenny, from Ray & Kenny’s, your food platters were excellent. I was told that I even made good coffee. It was a very informative meeting, with speakers from Cincinnati Bell and Mr. Johnson, from Johnson Insurance Agency giving us much information. The Chamber is going to be offering a Health Insurance Policy to its’ members at an attractive price. If you are in-
terested, join the Chamber. Well, it’s off to the garden. Sincerely Nedra William’
