Couple To Celebrate 50th Anniversary / * MS L I^9 Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Saylor, 2913 S. 800E, Walkerton, will be the guests of honor at an open house buffet in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary, on Sunday, September 3, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., at the Fish Lake American Legion Hall. Dorothy Wolff and Nelson Saylor were united in marriage on August 28, 1945, at the Elkhart Court House. They have two chilren, Louise Saylor, of Buchanan, Mich, and the late Arthur Saylor. They also have four grandchilren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Saylor retired from the Wabash Railroad and Mrs. Saylor retired from Wells ALuminum Corp. They have been residents of Fish Lake for 50 years. ENGAGED » v al In mb Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kile, of 4368 Breezy Point Lane, announce the engagement of their daughter, Lynette A., to Stephen M. Green, of Wooridge, 111. Steve is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stan Green, of Hobart. Lynette graduated from John Glenn High School in 1991 and Purdue University in 1995 with a degree in speech-language pathology. She plans to attend graduate school at Northern Illinois University to pursue a masters degree. She is employed at Ist Source Bank, at North Liberty. Steve is a 1988 graduate of Hobart High School and a 1993 graduate of Purdue University with a degree in industrial engineering technology. He is employed by Markem, Inc. as a technical sales representative. The couple has chosen an August 10,1996 wedding. MARSHALL COUNTY AARP TO MEET On August 24th the Marshall County Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons invites all area AARP members and their guests to the Marshall County Historical Museum, located in downtown Plymouth, on Michigan Street, for a tour of the special World War II exhibits housed there in celebration of the 50th Anni-
versary of the war’s end, at 10:00 a.m. Mrs. Marjorie Mattern, who served in the war as a WAC, will share experiences and memories of her service. All area veterans of WWII are invited to attend and share memories during the refreshment time of the brief meeting which follows the tour, in the First Church of Christ, Fellowship Hall, located at 321 N. Center Street, in Plymouth, a short distance from the museum. Contact Grant Shenefield, local AARP president, at 892-6541 for further information. During the Blueberry Festival parade look for the AARP entry. The September meeting of AARP on the 28th, in the Fellowship Hall of the First Church of Christ on North Center Street in Plymouth will feature Holli-Shorter-Pifer, speaking on living wills and trusts. The Marshall County Chapter of AARP holds meetings the fourth Thursday of each month for fun, fellowship, active learning and refreshment with friends and neighbors in the county and surrounding areas. Each month a door prize is given to one fortunate attendee. Join this active group who seek to serve, not to be served as they actively plan to protect the future of citizens of all ages and improve the quality of life for all. To Celebrate 50th Anniversary With Open House Sr WjHH ■ vi Mr. and Mrs. Earl D. Smith will be honored by their children and grandchildren at a lawn reception in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. The event will take place at their home, 15662 W. First Road, Plymouth, on August 27 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of gifts a picture or letter of memory would be appreciated. Mr. Earl Smith and Ella M. Stull were married September 8,1945. They have three children: Jim, of Rensselaer; Nancy Sekirka, of Plymouth and Don, of Plymouth. They also have seven grandchildren. Self-employed, Mr. Smith is still active in the family’s retail business. Mrs. Smith retired from Union-North Community Schools where she taught high school English and Language Arts.
