Walkerton’s Sewer Project Progress Report The following is a brief summary f progress through August 21, 995, as well as a projected work ormula on work to be completed hrough September 1,1995. A. Work completed as of August 1,1995 1. The 10” main is completed m Walkerton Trail and Georgia Street (Georgia Street today). 2. The 8” main is completed >n St. Rd. 23, with an addition 160 xtended south of original end mint to service the Church. 3. Willow Drive is complete. 4. All attendant service later* ds are installed. 5. Paving restoration on Valkerton Trail is being done as of ' August 21st. B. Projected sewer construction hrough the week of Sept. 1,1995 1. Junior Miss Tea Set For Wed., Sept. 6 The Walkerton Junior Miss Comlittee will hold their annual Tea jr prospective contestants and meir parents, on Wednesday, Sept. , at 7:00 p.m., in the John Glenn ligh School Library. The Walkerton Junior Miss Schlarship program is open to all Senior girls attending John Glenn, a Ville, or Oregon-Davis High Schools. Walkerton will be hosting their :4th annual program on October :8, in the John Glenn High School Auditorium. JREY FOOTBALL TEAM TO PLAY TUES., AUG. 29 Urey football team will open heir season on Tuesday, August 29 vhen they host LaVille, at 4:30 >.m., at the John Glenn High School football field. JG Football Action To Begin Here Lights, Camera, Action . . .the field is ready!
With the 1995 football season about to open following Friday nights Jamboree, at Bremen, the John Glenn Falcons will host the Jimmies from Jimtown, at 7:30 p.m., on Friday, August 25. The Falcons played in two quarters at the Jamboree. In the opener the Falcons were scoreless against the Bremen Lions, 22-0. In the fourth quarter the Falcons took the field again only this time against the Triton Trojans. The Falcons were close by a score of 8-6. In other action at the Jamboree LaVille played Bremen with the Lions coming out on top again by a score of 14-6. Then LaVille defeated Triton, 12-0, in other scrimmage. Central-H (Homecoming) Sept. 29-New Prairie-H (Parent-Sr. Night) Oct. 6-Culver-T Oct. 13-Bremen-T Oct. 20-Sectional action begins Sarah Martin Attends IU Summer Course sh fl Sarah Martin, daughter of Terry and Carol Martin, Walkerton, has just completed an eight-week summer course at Indiana University, in Bloomington. The summer institute, entitled, “Exploration of Careers in Science,” was sponsored by the National Science Foundation. The course included many field trips, labs and classes and involved research with a written report and oral presentation. Sarah, a Senior at John Glenn High School, was recommended for the program by Mrs. Linda Parker, her advanced placement chemistry teacher.

Kilned Inst Featured Pianist Aug. 30-Sept. 10 fl^ a Sherry Klinedinst will be a featured pianist at the Wagon Wheel Theatre, Warsaw, in a show entitled, “In Concert with George Gershwin.” With two grand pianos on stage, Sherry will be one of two pianists performing duet versions of such classics as "Rapsody in Blue,” and “Concerto in F.” Other members of this season’s theater company will be delighting audiences with vocal renditions of Gershwin’s most beloved tunes including "Einbraceable You,” “I Got Rhythm,” "Strike Up the Band,” and selections from “Porgy and Bess.” ' The show runs from August 30 through September 10 with evening performances beginning at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday matinee performances starting at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $17.50 and may be reserved by calling the Wagon Wheel ticket office at (219) 2678041. CHRISTIAN WOMEN TO MEET The Marshall County Christian Women’s Club will meet on Wednesday, September 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Balloon Wurks Restaurant, at the Plymouth Holiday Inn. North Liberty Elem. Receives National Award Book It!, the national reading incentive program sponsored by Pizza Hut, announced that North Liberty Elementary in North Liberty, is a runner-up prize winner in its annual Book It! "100% Enrollment Sweepstakes Challenge.” North Liberty Elementary principal Brent Kaufman will receive a SSOO award from Book It!, to be' used for expansion of the school’s library and other educational needs. Book It! sponsors the national enrollment sweepstakes as part of an annual drive to enroll as many students as possible in the awardwinning reading incentive program. The sweepstakes offered public, private and parochial school principals the opportunity to win fonds earmarked for their school libraries and other educational resources by enrolling 100% of eligible kindergarten through sixth grade classrooms in Book It! More than 35,000 elementary schools from across the country entered the sweepstakes. The annual five-month reading incentive program, now in its 11th year, motivates children to read more with three powerful incentives: pizza, praise and recognition. REINS OF LIFE TO SPONSOR RIDE Reins Os Life’s annual Ride-A-Thon and Fun Walk, will be held on Sunday, Sept. 10, at Potato Creek State Park, North Liberty. The walk will begin at 12 noon and walkers will take separate trails marked for distances up to four miles. The registration tent will be set up in the horse campground area from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Riders must provide their own horses. Businesses and individuals are asked to form teams and join the walk. RURAL YOUTH REUNION District I Rural Youth-Young Adult Reunion will hold their picnic and silent auction on Sunday, August 27, at 12 noon, at the Road Runner Pavilion, Centennial Park, Plymouth. The meal will begin at 1:00 p.m. A short business meeting will follow the meal. Come rain or shine. Bring an item for the silent auction, a well filled picnic basket, own drink, table service, old pictures, etc. There will be grills nearby and electrical outlets are available. JG Fall Sports Season Tickets To Go On Sale John Glenn High School has announced its all-sports pass, season ticket, and single game ticket prices for the 1995-96 athletic seasons. The all-sports pass for adults is $35.00 and $25.00 for students. Varsity football season tickets are priced at SIO.OO for adults and $6.00 for students. Volleyball season tickets are priced ' at $12.00 for adults and students. The all-sports passes and season tickets are available at John Glenn High School. They will also be available at the first home volleyball game on August 24 and the first home football game on August 25. Single game ticket prices for varsity football are $3.00 for both students and adults. Single game tickets for junior varsity football and volleyball are $2.00 for both students and adults. There will be no admission charge for cross country and boys tennis. Tickets for the winter sports are priced as follows: Boys varsity basketball and girls varsity basketball season tickets are SIB.OO for adults and $12.00 for students. Single game tickets for boys basketball and girls basketball are $3.00 for both students and adults. Single game tickets for freshman basketball and wrestling are $2.00 for both students and adults. Tickets for the spring sports are priced as follows: Varsity baseball season tickets are priced at $15.00 for students and adults. Boys and girls track season tickets are $5.00 for both students and adults. Single game tickets for varsity baseball and track are $2.00 for both adults and students. There will be no admission charge for golf, girls tennis, and junior varsity baseball. Senior citizens residing in the John Glenn School Corporation are eligible for a complimentary allsports pass to all home athletic events except tournaments. To qualify, persons must be 65 years of age or older and they must receive their ticket in person at the John Glenn High School Office. CUB SCOUT ROUND-UP The Walkerton Cub Scout Round Up will be held, on Monday, August 28, at 6:30 p.m., at the Walkerton Elementary School. Come join us. CLUB TO MEET The Walkerton Woman’s Community Club will hold its first meeting of the new season, on Friday, September 1, at 1:00 p.m., at the Walkerton Community Building. The calendar of events for the coming year will be discussed and new membership books will be passed out. HELP NEEDED The North Liberty Community Board needs help to put up sheet rock in the new addition of the building, also there is baseboard to be painted before putting down.
