oent tnat really happened to a couple and their out-house when it blew up, just like the one the Woods had in their backyard. You sure don’t see many of them around anymore. It was decided to hold the next family reunion again next year, same time, same place. It turned out to be a lovely day in their backyard and all had a good time. Gary Lemert and family, of Michigan, just returned Saturday from a wonderful trip to Florida where they visited Disney World and so many interesting places and then spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Denny Lemert. It was wonderful to see Flora Hough back in church once again. The lady who cares for her brought her to church. Everyone was so happy to see her and she was happy to see everyone too.

Saturday afternoon Edward Podgodzinski and Gladys Sheneman called on Alta Andrews at the home of her daughter, Marlene and her husband, Herb Nantick, in LaPorte. They also visited with John and May Bowers from Lakeland, Florida, who were visiting his mother. They had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, July 29, at the American Legion Post in Walkerton with many of their relatives and friends attending. Even their friends, David and Marge Trobaugh, of Lake Placid, Florida, came all the way to help them celebrate. They will fly back to Florida on Tuesday. Your friends all wish you well and a safe trip home. Alta Bowers would love to hear from her friends as she will be celebrating her 93rd birthday on September Ist. Her address is 3005 Monroe Street, LaPorte, IN 46350. Please remember her at this special time. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Forest Dunnick, of 110 E. Center St., North Liberty, who celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with a Caribbean Cruise. They retired in 1992 as teachers, he after 36 years and she after 25 years of service. Best wishes from all your many friends. The following relatives met at the North Liberty park recently to celebrate several birthdays. belle Miller and daughter, Rosalee Morrison, of Tyner; Ted and Cindy Woolett and family and Jackie Norris, all of South Bend; Adam and Sherrie Mann and daughter Katie, of Bremen; Jack and Shirley Norris and Lola Pavey, of North Liberty. Please remember Lola, as she will be celebrating her 88th birthday on Thursday, August 10. Marian Fouts and her family attended the Compton Family reunion held on Sunday, at the Holiday Inn, in Plymouth. Congratulations to Merita Allsop who was crowned 4-H queen of the St. Joseph County Fair last Monday evening. She has been in 4-H for the past ten years and very active and made lots of beautiful clothing so she really earned this great honor. Best wishes, Merita, from all your many friends. Sunday, August 13, the United Methodist Church of Walkerton with Dr. Lacy will hold the 8:30 morning worship service for the campers out at Peppermint Hill in Potato Creek State Park. Remember this Friday, Saturday and Sunday is the Potato Creek Festival in downtown North Liberty. Plan to attend. About 150 attended the Retired Neighbors and Friends get-togeth-er on Tuesday, August 1 at the Pine Creek Church where all enjoyed a delicious spaghetti dinner served by the ladies of the church. A big thank you for all their hard work in preparing all the food. The president, Gladys Sheneman, opened the meeting before dinner and found out Willard Stump, of Garrett, came the fartherest. Dottie Whitmer, of South Bend, and Cecil Moyer, of Miller’s Merry Manor,

were both 92 and the oldest was Bertie Mitchell, 93, of Redwood Road. Several were having birthdays in August. The deaths were Charles Sheneman and Vera (Ross) Steinke reported. Please remember our next get-together will be on Tuesday, September 12, so please mark your calendar. Pastor Norman Replogle gave the noonday prayer. Afterwards we went into the sanctuary where Verl Haag and Florence Seekings entertained us with many inspiring religious songs. We thank them for sharing with us and wish them well as they share their talents. Please drop by the Treasure Chest while at the festival and see the Dresdian quilt in the window with my name, Gladys Thayer, on it and it was made in the year 1933. You will also recognize a lot of other names also. You can fill a sack in the store for $2.00, so please drop in as they are also having a SIO.OO drawing. Subscribe Today! ft xuz Call 586-3139
