We want to run your lews, hear your views, help you lass along messages, etc., but we nust have your cooperation. We vill hold these two thank you notes, loping to hear from the party that Submitted them. First of all, in trying to keep costs lown to you, we ask that classified ids, cards of thanks, happy ads, nemoriams, notices, etc. are paid n advance. We cannot afford to :arry these small accounts on our looks and have to bill for these terns. First of all, our classified ads are 0 cents a word, minimum price of >2.50. You get up to 25 words for >2.50, then simply if it goes over 25 vords, it is 10 cents a word. All ibbreviations, etc. count as a word. Our happy ads start at $2.50. A lormal happy ad is covered by this trice. However, happy ads adverising anything start at $5.00. A lappy ad with a picture is $7.50 md happy ads that are longer in nessage or have multiple names, nembers of teams, etc., will be priced according to the size required. Keep it simple . . . keep it heap and easy. We do reserve he right to question, edit or reject .ny happy ad that we feel is not ent with the intended purpose. This is a popular tool for relaying ;ood feelings or thanks from one >erson to another. Let’s keep it hat way. Cards of thanks are $2.00. Ocasionally extra long cards of hanks will have an extra charge,

but the normal thank you notice is offered to you for $2.00. Also memorial tributes to loved ones are $2.00 also unless they are very lengthy. We try to keep this economical for you to relay your thoughts, often in time of grief, as well as on happy occasions. Our advertising rate for local advertising is $1.75 per column inch. Dispk classified advertising is $3.00 an inch for one insertion, $2.50 per inch for more than one consecutive insertion. There is no charge for news which include engagements, weddings, obituaries, announcements, club new, local items, etc. If you have a question whether an item is news or advertising, an easy way to tell is simple, if you charge we charge. Our deadlines for these various notices, etc., is Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. for that week’s issue. However, your assistance in getting things in early help us and if the situation arises where we are overwhelmed late with items regardless of what they are, the ones that are in early stand a much better chance of not being delayed for an issue. Please don’t wait until the last minute for these items. Concerning Voice of the People articles, we are always happy to receive your thoughts and comments. We still will withhold a name from publication for a legitimate reason, but much prefer to have the name published with the article. All Voice articles must be signed and we must know how to contact those furnishing the articles in case of a question or problem with the same. We do edit, reject and try to correct obvious mistakes, as we are liable for what is published, not the one submitting. Consequently, we must know where it comes from. Absolutely no annonymous Voices will be published. If you are sincere in your thoughts and convictions, you should be willing to be out in the open about them. A view on a subject means so much more to the public if they know where it comes from. Our advertising rates and a full schedule of our charges is available at all times in our office. We do want to help you and our advertisers relay your thoughts and messages to everyone. Your cooperation and knowledge of these
facts will help us continue to give to you a truly hometown newspaper . . . the only weekly newspaper serving this area despite what other publications may claim. But remember, in all cases, paid or free, we reserve the right to edit or reject for any reason we feel is justified on our part. We are responsible for what appears in our publication. The Independent-News Oregon-Davis Registration August 7-10 The Oregon-Davis Schools will be registering students on Monday, August 7th, Tuesday, August Bth, and Wednesday, August 9th from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, August 10th from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. All students in grades K-12 should be registered at the Jr.-Sr. High School Cafeteria. Enrollment/ registration will be done by the computerized system. Residents who live in the Grovertown area will register on August 7th from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; residents who live in the Koontz Lake area will register on August 9th from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and new enrollees and ones who couldn’t make Monday-Wednesday can do so on August 10th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. All students must be enrolled prior to August 16th. Any student not enrolled during enrollment dates will be counted absent on the first day of school. All new enrollees must make an appointment with the principal/counselor and will be enrolled on August 10th. This year the individualized student data has been entered in the computer and any changes will be made rather than re-inventing the wheel year after year, duplicating previously given data. This should expedite the amount of time required for enrollment. enrollment procedures and payment procedures prior to the first day of school. Book rental charges will be: Kindergarten - $23.00, grade 1 • $45.00, grade 2 - $42.00, grade 3 - $45.00, grade 4 - $45.00, grade 5 - $45.00, grade 6 - $46.00. Grades 7 • 12 will be charged according to classes taken. Book rental assistance forms will be available for those who may have needs in this area at registration. In compliance I with state law, any student enrolled in school for the first time is to furnish the school with written immunization history accompanied by a physician’s certificate or other documentation. No child by law is to be permitted to attend school for more than 20 days beyond the date of enrollment without this immunization documentation. Also, the law states that all students entering the sixth grade must have proof at time of registration of a second measles vaccination. The school cafeteria will serve lunches beginning August 16 and breakfasts beginning August 21. Lunch tickets for the coming year will be sl.lO per day for students in grades K-6 and $1.20 per day for students in grades 7-12. Extra milk will cost 25 cents each. Applications for the free and reduced lunch program will be available at registration. In addition to lunch, the elementary will continue to serve breakfast at a cost of 75 cents per day. The Jr.-Sr. High School will continue to serve breakfst ala carte style at a varying cost depending upon items taken. Those students qualifying for free or reduced lunch will retain that status for breakfast at the eleemntary only. Classes for all students will begin on Wednesday, August 16. Classes will be from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the elementary and 8:00 a.m. until 3:10 p.m. at the Jr.-Sr. High School. Kindergarten classes will meet from 8:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. for the morning class and 12:15 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. for the afternoon class.
