VERA C. ROSS STEINKE Vera C. Ross Steinke, 88, of Bremen Healthcare Center, formerly of Lakeville, died at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, in the nursing home. She was bom March 9, 1907, in North Liberty. On December 24, 1925, in North Liberty, as Vera C. Winnill, she married Millard L. Ross who died February 19, 1968. In 1974, in South Bend, she married Dwight Steinke. He died January 4, 1981. She was a member of Pine Creek

Church of the Brethren, North Liberty. She is survived by four daughters, Mardell Gardner of Walkerton, Twilla Gregg of Lakeville, Joan Walsh of Decatur, Georgia, and Judy Hopper of Edwardsburg; two sons, Harold Ross of Michigan City and Charles Ross of South Bend; 15 grandchildren; 23 greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Delta Beausoliel of LaPorte. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the church. Burial will be in Morris Cemetery, Walkerton. Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville, were in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. A man should stand up to his bad luck, to his mistakes, to his conscience and all that sort of thing.
