The Sixth Grade Class of St. Patrick School joined all the Catholic School graduates for a special liturgical celebration at St. Matthew Cathedral in South Bend on Thursday, May 24th. Bishop John Sheets presided at the Mass. Vanessa Kemp led three honorees in the processional. Alan Holland presented the breads for celebration at the offertory. At the end of the liturgy, Superintendent, Dr. Jeannette Kam directed the presentation of awards to selected students from each

school. Sister Dian Majsterek, Principal, presented the honorees from Walkerton’s St. Patrick School. Honored were Brian Belkiewitz, for academic achievement; Jack Moerman, for leadership; and Ross holland, for service rendered to the school and parish. They are pictured above, from left to right. R.E.A.L. SERVICES NEWS WALKERTON Monday Harold Schweder was our welcoming committee as well as taking care of the books while Hazel told us some short stories and jokes. Who’s Crazy? A man went to a psychiatrist and said, “Doc, my wife is crazy’’. When asked to explain, the man said his wife keeps 60 cats in the house. “Well, maybe she likes cats”, the psychiatrist replied. “That doesn’t make her crazy”. “But Doc,” the man persisted, “she keeps them all in the living room with the windows closed — and the smell is terrible!” “Well, why don’t you open the windows?” the psychiatrist asked. “What!” screamed the man, “and let my pigeons out?” The Birds and the Bees. A boy was discussing his mother’s pregnancy with one of his friends. “Well I had a man-to-man talk with my dad about the facts of life,” the lad concluded. “And it turns out she’s pregnant by a giant bumblebee”. Tuesday Iva Kring read us a story about Mayor LaGuardia when he was in office in Chicago. It was a message to all of us. Iva gave prayer before the meal. Wednesday Florence Seekings and Sam Madonna were here to sing and play their guitars. Elinore Leming gave prayer. Thursday we just sat around and talked about everything and anybody. Friday we had our regular sing-a-long with Verice Walz at the piano and Virginia Anhold leading the singing. Elinore Leming read us, a poem out of the Walkerton paper (The Unknown Soldier). We said the pledge to the American flag. Elinore gave prayers before the meal. Dates to remember: Monday — Jokes. Tuesday— Card playing, euchre in the afternoon. Thursday — Pinochle in the afternoon. Friday — Sing-a-long.
