Ground Breaking Ceremony Set For Urey On June 6th A ground breaking ceremony for the addition and renovation to Urey Middle School is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on June 6, at Urey Middle School. Urey Middle School students, teachers, School Board members and John Glenn Building Corporation members will be participating in the ground breaking ceremony to take place on the west side of the Urey School. The ceremony will mark the end of several years of planning improved facilities for middle school students and the beginning of construction on the addition and renovation to Urey Middle School which is expected to start later this month. The Urey Middle School project consists of renovation of the existing middle school of 36,000 square feet and the construction of an additional 47,251 square feet. The project provides for the educational programming needs of the seventh and eighth graders of the school corporation and will provide a facility virtually equivalent to a new school. The renovation will provide academic spaces, group instructional spaces, science labs, physical education locker rooms, improvements to comply with the American Disabilities Act, technology improvements to provide voice, video and data neworking capabilities. Calumet Construction Company of Hammond, will be the general contractor, Industrial Maintenance and Mechanical from Rolling Prairie will be the mechanical contractor and Scanlon Electric from South Bend will be the electrical contractor. Other contractors include Sprint United for technology, C & T Design and Equipment for the cafeteria, Lee Company for cabinetry, Handgen Equipment for library and science furnishings. The total construction cost is $7,027,688. NAME OMITTED At the memorial services at the cemetery on May 29th, the name of Vern Hansen was not on the list of names read in memory of our departed commrades. There were so many names throughout the District, when sorting them out at the Post level, his name was omitted. We humbly apologize for the oversight. Immunization Clinic Set For Area Communities The Saint Joseph County Health Department will be conducting Immunization Clinics at three county locations early in June. For these clinics, no appointments are necessary. All children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and all previous shot records are needed for immunizations.
