night with their son, Kevin and ( family at Little Rock, Arkansas. They also stopped and stayed with their son, Kurt and his family in Indianapolis. They really enjoyed the winter in Arizona. Rev. Charles Richmond of the Church of Christ drove the church van and took the following last Tuesday to Ist Annual Indiana Conference Christian Seniors Fellowship held at the Traders Point Christian Church, Lafayette Road in Indianapolis. Ray and Georgie Bergland, Charles and Helen Hensley, John and Mary Piotrowicz, Gail and Mae McDaniel, Dorothy Reed, Helen Neidlinger, Aletha Croy, Jean Heim, Helen Loucks and Marguerite O’Connor. The program was “Life can be nifty after 50!” And they all came home feeling it is really true, as it is just what you make it. Gladys Sheneman held another quilt show on Friday, April 7 at Miller’s Merry Manor for the residents to see and enjoy. Those who showed and told about their beautiful quilts were Ruby Salyer, Dorothy Miller, Mary Morey, Shirley Limerick, Pearl Frailey and Betty Helton, of Knox. Then as Gladys Sheneman showed a beautiful quilt that she had quilted for Mae McDaniel and two quilt tops her mother, Gara Thayer, had made while at the nursing home. Cathy brought her a quilt that Jane • Pittman had brought in to surprise me. Well, I was shocked to see my name embroidered on a Dresdian Plate quilt, Gladys Thayer, along with all these names: Mother, Mary Mcßride, Hazel Sheneman, Virginia Herbster, Florence Herbster, Kathryn Burke, Pearl Roush and Lydia Green. This quilt had to be made over 60 years ago when my name was Thayer. On Tuesday, April 4th, about 150 Retired Neighbors and Friends met at the social room in the Pine Creek Church for their first get together in 1995. All seemed so happy to see each other once again, several were back from Florida and all were glad to greet them. Birdie Mitchell was the oldest present celebrating her 93rd birthday. Several were celebrating wedding anniversaries in April but Roy and Helen will be celebrating their 57th on April 16th Easter this year. Three deaths were reported, Nina Goon, Hazel Hoover and Beatrice Roush. Mangus who is back home from the hospital but she needs a call or a card to cheer her. Madelyn Nelson played dinner music. Evelyn Dolph read the secretary’s report and Gladys Sheneman, president, told a funny incident that happened back in the 1930’s “when the old outhouse blew up”, after which we were introduced to the new minister, Norman Replogle, and his wife Melissa, who have come to minister at the Pine Creek Church. They are very talented and after Louise White opened our afternoon program with organ music, the Replogles took over and entertained the group with their guitar and flute and singing. May God richly bless them in their work at Pine Creek. Forty-seven people from a wide area boarded an American Dream Tour Bus and headed for Fort Wayne Sunday noon to see “The Living Cross”, presented by over 300 in the cast, who committed themselves to bring the story of the life of our Savior Jesus Christ in a meaningful and dramatic presentation at the Calvary Temple Worship Center in Fort Wayne. This was the 12th time they had presented “The Living Cross” and was the last for this year. Your news correspondent was among the group and I am so glad I went as I realize more and more now the suffering that Jesus went through while he walked here on this earth and went about healing the sick and doing so much good, and yet the people would not believe in him and it is the same today. Many want to take prayer out of our schools and everything and think they don’t need God, but I believe, and 1 know he performs miracles yet today. I saw him cricified on that cruel cross and then die and laid in the tomb and then came forth and go up into Heaven. What a thrilling sight to behold. Hope you all attend Easter services somewhere and have a very Happy Easter day. The American Legion Post 365 is having an Easter Egg Hunt for the kiddies at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the North Liberty Park. The Easter Bunny is on his way. Read our Classified Ads!
