The Eastern Star entertained at the Masonic Temple Sunday with a birthday dinner in honor of Edith Rupel who was celebrating her 90th birthday with about 60 friends and members attending. LaVon Oglesby is going to be celebrating her 85th brithday bn Friday, April 7th. Remember her and we all wish you a happy birthday, LaVon. How many of you old timers can remember the hoble skirt era when ladies had trouble maneuvering the stairs and getting on and off streetcars. Then the mini-skirt style came along and what style do you have for the latest with no skirt hardly at all, and they are getting shorter and shorter. What would our great-grandmothers say if she saw what we see on TV today? Don’t forget Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. is the quilt show at Miller’s Merry Manor. Please come and bring a quilt or two to “show and tell.” An April Fool’s party was enjoyed Saturday evening by 16 friends and members of the Gay Democratic Gub held in Roseland. The occasion was to help Elaine Wolff, of North Liberty, celebrate her birthday and did she ever get a big April fool surprise when she cut into her beautifully decorated cake filled with gifts baked by Jane

Pittman. The tables were decorated with pop cans with a stuffed rubber glove all decorated with faces and jewelry all pointing toward Elaine. It was a fun April Fool’s birthday party along with all kinds of goodies to eat. Happy birthday, Elaine, from all your many friends. I’m sure you will never forget this birthday party. Harley Baughman and Arlu Smith arrived home Monday afternoon after spending the winter in Florida. The following girls from Ist Source Bank attended a teller’s dinner at the Occasions Restaurant in LaPaz on Wednesday, March 23, at 6:30 p.m. They were Laura Morris, Wendy Morris, Carol Carbiener, Marka Jackson and Joe Hunting. About 60 tellers from the area banks were present also. The theme was the 50’s and they dressed like they did back then, wearing poodle skirts, blue jeans, white anklets, school sweaters and leather jackets. It was a fun evening for all present. Grant and Lu Anne Poynter, of Kokomo, spent Friday with Carl and Barb Zimmerle and enjoyed dinner in the evening at Sanßob’s Restaurant, In North Liberty. They were on their way home to visit his sister Beulah, in South Bend. Bend. Alan and Paula Limerick spent the past week in Florida and returned home Saturday with Alan’s folks, Bill and Shirley Limerick. Gene and Norma Patrick and their daughter Tammy, Chris and Jamie Holderbaum and Gladys Sheneman enjoyed dinner at the Spageddies Italian Kitchen, on Main Street, Mishawaka on Sunday and helped Tammy celebrate her birthday. Later after shopping at Menards they had birthday cake at Tammy’s and spent the evening. June Tamow has returned to her home on Riley Road from California. with gifts and a beautiful decorated angel food cake for me to cut and serve. Well, would you believe I tried and I thought the knife needed sharpening, as I couldn’t cut it. Come to find out it was put together with cardboard and decorated. What a surprise. Do any of you girls remember? Sorry I can’t remember who made the cake as this happened many years ago. We always celebrated every - ones birthday when I worked there for 15 years. Larman and Peggy Kaser, of Walkerton, and Lorraine Jones, of New Carlisle, are very proud of their granddaughter, Kim Kaser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Kaser, of Carmel, Indiana. Kim is a sophomore in the School of Liberal Arts and has restored some faith through her volunteer work across Indiana. Her main volunteer efforts are for Down Syndrome Support Assoc, of central Indiana. She holds sibling panels and talks to parents about how to cope with Down Syndrome and how to help their children. She has also done volunteer work for Purdue’s Circle K, a community service program. Kim is now a teachers aide in head start, a preschool program for the children of parents on welfare. Her efforts in helping others attracted the Wish TV’s “We Value Youth” program and on March 29
