The motion was approved by a six to zero vote. 1. Superintendent’s Report a. Review Alternate Design for Removal of Storm Water from Urey Middle School David McKee, superintendent, explained to the School Board that the Town of Walkerton will not accept the current design for disposal of storm water on site to a system of drywells. The Town officials have stated that all water coming off of hard surfaces on-side including roofs and parking lots must be disposed of off-site by a system that will accomodate a one in one hundred year occurrence. The engineers designed the present system, which is unacceptable, to be in compliance with the Indiana ( Department of Environmental Management and the Town’s requirement that your storm water not be conntected to the sanitary sewer. The school presently uses drywells that were installed in 1982 to dispose of the storm water. The Town has indicated that IDEM will require additional monitoring of the wells by the Town if the school uses an absorption method to dispose of storm water on site. Based on the Town’s requirement for storm water to be disposed of offsite, Territorial Engineering presented the School Board with the following options: (A) On-site collection system at an estimated cost of $73,395 that will take the water from the Urey site to a discharge

location on the north edge of the school property, (B) off-site gravity system from the point of discharge at Urey School to the Town of Walkerton’s 30 inch unbanded petrified clay line north of the CSX Railroad. The Town’s unbanded sewer line would be used to route the water from the railroad to Pine Creek, (C) off-site pump station and forced main system at an estimated cost of $178,400. The off-site forced main system would take the water from the point of discharge to the Town’s unbanded 30 inch sewer line north of the CSX Railroad. The forced main system would use a ten inch sewer line in lieu of the 24 inch required for the gravity system, and (D) on-site absorption system and on-site collection system for the combined estimated price of $143,236. Following considerable discussion concerning the problem of disposal of storm water and the possible solutions, Robert Schaeffer made a motion, seconded by Janice Ryan, to approve a change in the design that will provide for an on-site collection of storm water in lieu of the current design for absorption at an estimated cost of $73,395. The motion was approved by a six to zero vote. The School Board also directed the superintendent to work with Town officials on design requirements for removing the water from the discharge point to Pine Creek. The School Board was advised of the need to have the east property line of Urey Middle School surveyed to determine the exact location. 2. Reports to Board a. Conferences Approved b. SIGN-UP UNDERWAY FOR BETHEL NURSING PROGRAMS The Nursing Division of Bethel College, Mishawaka, is now taking applications for its Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing Completion and Associate Degree in Nursing programs. This includes registration for classes that meet on Bethel’s main campus and at Bethel’s offcampus site in Donaldson, Indiana, at Ancilla College. Bethel will be providing two programs at Ancilla, the Associate Degree in Nursing and the RNBachelor in Science in Nursing Completion programs. Nursing faculty will travel to Ancilla on days that classes are held on that campus to bring nursing education closer to prospective students. Bethel recently revised the RNBSN completion program to make the program more accessible to the working adult, who in all likelihood is already employed as a registered nurse, but who wishes to complete his or her bachelor’s degree. Classes for this program meet one evening a week: Tuesday evenings at the Bethel campus site, and Thursday evenings at the
