Presbyterians To Host Seminar On Parenting Coming mid March through early April, an excellent video and discussion seminar will be offered for every good parent who wants to become a better one. This series features normal, every day parents sharing their joy and struggles of parenting as well as Dr. Ross Campbell, a child psychiatrist and best-selling author of “How To Really Love Your Child”. The videos are current and speak directly to the issues of parenting in the 1990’5. Each vidoe lasts about 20 minutes and will be followed by a discussion led by Pastor Ron Hawkins. All participants will be given a notebook with helpful materials to take with them. Each session meets on a four consecutive Sunday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. The dates and topics are: SESSION ONE — March 19, Improving Your Attitude. SESSION TWO — March 26, How To Love Your Child. SESSION THREE — April 2, The Secret To Discipline. SESSION FOUR — April 9, Why Values Are Important. Parents, parents-to-be, grandparents, teachers, or anyone who loves kids, come be encouraged. You’ll get some practical and biblical ideas on how to become an even better care-giver to children of all ages. The cost of all four sessions and the notebook is $7.00 (SIO.OO for married couples). Register early and receive a $2.00 discount. To qualify, contact the Church by March 14. The registration fee is to help defray some of the costs for the purchase of the videos series. However, the church desires all to come that would like to, so there is financial assistance available. Childcare is available for SI.OO per child, per session, payable each session (maximum $2.50 per family per session). Complimentary refreshments will be served. MARSHALL COUNTY CHRISTIAN WOMEN TO MEET APRIL 5 “Birds Os A Feather” will be the theme of the April meeting of the Marshal County Christian Women’s Gub as they meet on Wednesday, April 5, at the Balloon Wurks Restaurant, Holiday Inn, Plymouth. The event will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with the price for the luncheon and program $5.75 inclusive per person. E. flaiz. David E. Platz, 85, of 300 E. Center Street, North Liberty, died at 11:12 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph’s Medical Center, South Bend, after an illness. He war bom November 2,1909, in North Liberty to Delbert and Pearl (Whitmer) Platz. Mr. Platz retired in 1977 from the South Bend Street Department after 10 years. Surviving are five daughters, Evelyn Runyan, of North Liberty, with whom he made his home, Patricia Mitvcherll and Joyce Eaglebarger, both of South Bend, and Ruth Ryall and Mary Ann Wilson, both of Osceola; four sons, David J. and Larry, both of Mishawaka, Robert, of North Liberty, and John, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; 27 grandchildren; 56 great-grand-children; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the North Liberty Church of Christ, with Rev. Charles Richmond officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery, North Liberty. Friends may call from after 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the A. M. Manuel Funeral Home, North Liberty. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. HAZEL M. HOOVER Hazel M. Hoover, 96, of Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth, died at 12:40 p.m. Friday in the nursing home. She was born July 9, 1898, in Teegarden. On February 16, 1917, in Plymouth, as Hazel M. Ritter, she married Garence S. Hoover, who died May 24,1961. Surviving are a daughter, Helen Freeman, of Plymouth; a son, Dwight P., of Goshen; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Wheeler; a son, Dale; a grandson, Duane Freeman; and an infant great-grandson. Mrs. Hoover was a member of the Pine Creek Church of the Brethren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. in the Johnson Funeral Home, Plymouth. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church organ fund. RUTH E. MILLS Ruth Elizabeth Mills, 70, of 1108 Wabash Street, Michigan City, a former resident of North Liberty, died at 2:44 p.m. Saturday in her home after an illness. She was born December 25, 1928, in Michigan City. On September 17, 1949, in Michigan City, as Ruth E. Missal, she married Rev. Ray E. Mills, who survives. Mrs. Mills

Also surviving are a daughter, Rebecca E. Gawson of Elkhart; a son, Ross M. of Logansport; four grandchildren; two foster grandchildren; a sister, Leona Missal of Michigan Gty; and a brother, Donald Missal of Michigan Gty. Mrs. Mills was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Tri Kappa Sorority, and Pastor’s Spouse’s Organization. She also was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout worker. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Church. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the UMCOR Refugee Blanket Fund through any United Methodist Church. Marshall County AARP To Hear Linda Rippy To celebrate Women’s History Month the local chapter of AARP has invited Linda Rippy from the Marshall County Historical Museum to speak during the regular March meeting in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Church of Christ, located at 321 N. Center Street in Plymouth, beginning at 10:00 a.m. This is a special time set aside in all parts of ther world to celebrate the contributions of women in the development of human endeavors throughout the history of mankind. All citizens, 50 years of age and over, living in Marshall County and surrounding areas, are invited to attend this celebration on March 23rd with fellow neighbors and friends. Throughout history women have been involved in the interests of all and today are still participating actively in world affairs for the benefit of all ages. Mark your calendar to attend for a fun time of fellowship and to learn of ther current senior citizens status in legislative and local issues. Become an active participant in this productive group seeking support for securing quality living for all citizens today and in the future. Local and national membership in AARP is a bargain in fun and fellowship each month of the year. Enjoy the good times with these active senior citizens. In a world today where so many are seeking handouts it is refreshing to be a part of a group whose motto remains, ”To Serve — Not To Be Served”.
