Falcons To Meet Plymouth In Friday Sectional Action The John Glenn Falcons and Plymouth Pilgrims drew first round byes in the 1995 Sectional Tourney at Plymouth, starting Tuesday, February 28. This drawing pits these two teams in the first Friday evening ballgame, as they try to earn their way into the Saturday night final and eventual winner of this year’s sectional. The six-team tourney will begin on Tuesday night with the Bremen Lions meeting the Culver Cavaliers. The second game will match the LaVille Lancers and the Ore-gon-Davis Bobcats. These two winners will meet in the second Friday game to decide the participants in Saturday’s finals. The Falcons have not faced the Pilgrims this season, as they didn’t meet in the Holiday Classic at Plymouth, which the Pilgrims won over Tippecanoe Valley, who dropped the Falcons in the first round. Plymouth is the defending champion, and has a very fine 17-2 record for the season to date. The Falcons, at 9-11, will be in an underdog role, but have had some very good battles with the Pilgrims in recent years, as they try once again to upset the Big Red team. The Falcons have something else rather unusual for them in this tourney, as all the other teams have beaten them this season. They lost a season game to Culver in their only meeting, defeated Ore-gon-Davis in season play, but lost to them in the Bi-County Tourney final game. They also lost to both Bremen and LaVille in season play after defeating them in double and single overtimes respectively in the Bi-County. Bremen, with their recent play, has to rank as the favorite in the upper bracket to advance. However, that is what is so great about tourney play in Indiana, there is always some surprises along the way and who knows when or where they might occur. WALKERTON TOWN COUNCIL MINUTES February 6, 1995 The Walkerton Town Council met at 700 p.m. on February 6, 1995 with the following members present: Gene Reese, Gordon Hartsell, Cheryl Rizek, Walter Heil and Leonard Jaske. Attorney David Holmes and clerk-treasurer Judy Hiler were also present. The minutes were approved as read. MONTHLY REPORTS: The January Fire Report was reviewed and accepted. Mary Rollings gave the Ambulance Report. Rollings had received a letter from the Indiana State Emergency Management Agency which stated that “if is legal and acceptable to have first responders in the patient compartment of an ambulance during patient transport, as long as there is a certified emergency medical ; technician present in the patient | compartment”. Rollings also re- | ported that they received a fax from . Community Ambulance stating • that if “it is deemed that ALS is : necessary the patient is to be trans- : ported in the Ambulance Enter- ■ prises, Inc., when applicable”. Rollings voiced some concern over some problems that could arise if ; this practice were ever put into use. It was decided to wait and see if any problems do arise, and then deal with them at that time. Rollings asked if letters can be I sent to area hospitals in regards to i our policy of return transportation for patients they have taken in. • Some of the hospitals do not believe the EMTs when they say they cannot provide return transportation, and are giving them a hard time. Attorney Holmes is going to write to the hospitals informing them of our policy. In a written report, David Behr said that he has sent in a proposal for a grant to partially fund the purchase of the old Brass Lion building for a new library. If approved, the building would also house the Walkerton Historical Society and the Town’s first museum. The Council reviewed the Police Report, and chief Sobieralski reported that several burglaries have been solved and arrests have been made. Attorney Holmes reported on the status of pay reimbursement that the State Board of Accounts is asking from Park Board members. Holmes said that he talked to the State Baord of Accounts and told them that he has never seen them go back further than the previous audit, and they agreed. It is a two year audit and they agreed to limit the request for funds to the two year peridd, so this means that a maximum repayment of $400.00 will be requested from Park Board members. Holmes said that he would find it acceptable if the Park Board members signed their 1994 checks back to the Town. They would only owe SIOO.OO apiece if they sign the checks back. Holmes is going to prepare a wage assignment form and send one to each Park Board member. The wage assignment form can also be used to sign back the SIOO.OO from the 1995 pay. President Rizek asked that the clerk contact the Park Board requesting them to submit (continued on Page 12)
