Kamela Duff, Walkerton Elementary School 3rd Grade Temporary Contract for Carol Huffstetter, Effective February 14, 1995 for the Remainder of the 1994-95 School Year Robert Schaeffer made a motion, seconded by Tom McCormick, to approve the appointment of Kamela Duff for the position of Walkerton Elementary School third grade temporary contract for Carol Huffstetter effective February 14, 1995 for the remainder of the 1994-95 school year. Approve Membership in the Indiana Cooperative Library Services Authority and Appointment of Shirley Ross as Corporation Representative Robert Schaeffer made a motion, seconded by Janice Ryan, to approve the membership of John Glenn School Corporation in the Indian Cooperative Library Seri vices Authority and the appointment of Shirley Ross as Corporation representative. staff and any community members who use the school libraries. The motion was approved by a six to zero vote. 5. Consider Proposed Plan from John Glenn High School Ecology Club for Recycling Center to be Located at John Glenn High School Eric Prout, president of the John Gelnn High School Ecology Club, presented a proposal to the School Board for installation of a recycling center at John Glenn High School that would be available to members of the community. Jerry DeDapper with Solid Waste Management of St. Joseph County provided the School Board members with additional information on the proposed recycling center to be located on the west parking lot at John Glenn High School. Following questions by Board members, Tom McCormick made a motion, seconded by Robert Schaeffer, to approve the request from the Ecology Club for the location of a recycling center at the John Glenn High School west parking lot. The motion was approved by a six to zero vote. 6. Board of Finance Janice Ryan made a motion, seconded by Ben Smith, to approve the appointment of Rob Keck as president and Robert Schaeffer as secretary of the Board of Finance for 1995. The motion was approved by a six to zero vote. REPORTS 1. Superintendent ’ s Report a. Update on Renovation and Addition to Urey Middle School and John Glenn High School Projects Superintendent David McKee advised the School Board that the Indiana State Board of Education granted the John Glenn School Corporation an advancement in the amount of $169,850 from the Common School Fund of the technology provisions. This advancement is to be repaid over a period not to exceed five years at the rate of 1 %. The loan will be used to help fund technology improvement in the Urey Middle School renovation and addition project. Superintendent McKee advised the School Board that a St. Joseph County Circuit Court Judge approved the purchase of a lot adjacent to the north property line of Urey Middle School from Shirley Mahoney. The final purchase price will be determined by court appointed appraisers. Mr. McKee advised the School Board that bids for the renovation and addition to Urey Middle School and improvements to the outdoor physical education and athletic facilities at John Glenn High School will go out to bid on February 23, 1995 with anticipation that the bids will be due on March 23,1995. The School Board reviewed the current drawings of the renovation and addition to Urey Middle School and John Glenn High School projects. 2. Reports to Board a. Conferences Approved b. Conference Reports The School Board was presented with a list of confemces approved and reports on conferences attended.
