The Falcons had real difficulties in trying to contain 6-0 junior Jenny Reed in the period as she poured in 10 of her game high 29 points in the first eight minutes. The locals had offensive difficulties as well in the first half as they just could not seem to find good shots often enough and when they did the shots did not find their mark. Bremen went to the dressing room at the intermission up 27-11. The Lions expanded their lead to 31-11 early in the third stanza before the Falcons went on an 8-0 run to close to 31-19. PANTHERS HAND 1 FALCONS 69-54 LOSS SATURDAY The North Wood Panthers, one of the areas better teams, rolled over the John Glenn Falcons Saturday night in Glenn’s final tune-up before the Bi-County Tourney. The 69-54 loss by Glenn let them slide under .500 for this season at 5 and 6. North Wood, coached by Dan Gunn, is making their presence felt on the hardwood after many years of mediocrity. On the other hand, John Glenn, coached by Gordon Mosson, has enjoyed a lot of success as Mosson has posted over 200 wins at Glenn in the 80’s and 90’s. But this is a rebuilding year and although every competitious, the Falcons are not the force they have been in recent years. The Panthers managed to established the lead in the first quarter by a 14-11 margin, but the Falcons hung tough and battled back and forth with the Panthers to a 30-30 tie at halftime. For the Falcons, Lyle had 10, Weigand 9 and Neiswender 8 at halftime. Leeper has 12 and Swihart 10 for the home team. The Panthers dominated the second half. With their leading

scorer only having one basket in the first half, he came to life offensively in the last 16 minutes with 16 points. His 11 third period points outscored the whole Falcon team as the Panthers moved to a 47-39 lead after three quarters of action. The North Wood free throw line was the busiest place of the game in the final quarter. In their attemp to get back in the game, the Falcons were forced to foul and the Panthers shot no less than 15 in the final quarter. Hitting 11 along with five baskets, then coasted to a 69-54 final score. Hirshy and Leeper each had 18 points to pace the winners with Swihart adding 10.
