How many of you got caught in the fog going to work on the 11th, 12th and 13th when it was really f°ggy? My dad always said. “January fog will freeze a May dog.” Did you ever hear that? 1 have marked those dates in May on my calendar to see if it’s true. Will let you know if it holds true. Sorry to have to report so many deaths of friends I know and many of you readers know even better than I do. Ellen Lehman (85 years) died Saturday at Miller’s Merry Manor. She had been a teacher at Polk-Lincoln-Johnson and John Glenn schools, retiring in 1971. So she was well known and lived near Teegarden. Then many of you will remember Harry Reid who grew up near Tyner, but lived in Newaygo, Michigan. He died Thursday after an illness. He leaves two daughters, a son and two sister, Mavis Shank of Tyner and Irma Shultz, of Mishawaka, and a brother, Lee, of Plymouth. Also 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. I just read in my South Bend Tribune paper that Louis Telkamp (83) known as “Luke,” also passed away at Miller’s Merry Manor, in

Plymouth, on Saturday night. He was a member of the Marshall County Sheriffs Posse and always rode in the parades. Our sympathy goes to these friend’s families. So happy to report that they are now over the flu at Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton. Many area residents have also had the flu. Years ago many mothers treated colds and sore throats with a quarter cup of mineral oil spiced with a drop of turpentine. Did your mom ever give you this old fashioned cure? My mom gave us girls a teaspoon of sugar with two drops of kerosene and boy, did that ever taste awful. Will give you more old fashioned cures next week. William Groves, of Sylvia Drive, spent last week with his mother, June Groves, who underwent surgery last Thursday in Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte, Florida. She formerly lived in Walkerton so please remember her in your prayers and a get well card. Please remember all these friends who need your prayers and a card or call. Iva Kring of Walkerton; Harry Kurzhal; Wig Hocker; Clell Fouts at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth; and also Marget Mason who lived in the 100 Apartments. She was visiting her family in Calvin, Kentucky, and fell and broke her leg and is in the hospital in Pineville, Kentucky. Also Mae
