The loss dropped the Falcons to 6-6 on the year and 1-4 in league play while Triton improves to 7-5 and 2-3. The loss also snapped a two game winning streak of the locals and ended a three game skid for ther visitors. The holiday vacation layoff did not seem to bother either team as both teams came out fired up and both played well. Glenn started quickly behind Renee Fisher’s five point outburst to jump to a 7-2 lead but then sputtered the last three minutes to allow the Trojans to gain a threepoint advantage at the first stop. 13-10. The Falcons stayed close int he second stanza on the strength of sii of eight shooting from the charity stripe and a three point bomb by sophomore Lindsay O'Connor. At the end of the second eight-minute segment the locals trailed 28-23. The Blue and Gold clad Trojans built several near double digit leads throughout the contest and appeared to be ready to take total command only to have the game Falcons battle back and close the gap to one or two points. Such was the case in the third quarter as Triton expanded its halftime lead to nine points before coach Scott Hostetler's ’charges whittled the margin to four at the third stop. 41-37. The Falcons regained the lead briefly at 45-44 midway through the final quarter and looked like they were prepared to keep it. But the Trojans regained their composure behind the efforts of their outstanding junior forward Ann Hall. She scored eight of the team's final 10 points to snatch the victory from the local gals. Tracy Legge led a well balanced Glenn attack with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Tiffany Hesters added 11 tallies to the hosts' total. Hall took game scoring honors to pace the Trojans with 22 points. Coach Hostetler was pleased with his team’s overall performance but felt the game was lost at the foul line as the Falcons connected on only 12 of 23 attempts. LADY FALCONS FALL TO NSC LEADERS, 75-40 The Lady Falcons of John Glenn ran into a talented and quick Culver Quintet and fell 75-40 in a Northern State Conference basketball tilt at the Aerie Saturday afternoon. Undoubtedly facing the best team they’ve played this season, the Falcons of coach Scott Hostetler were handed their seventh loss in 13 outings and fell to 1-5 in league action. The visiting Cavaliers improved to 11-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play. It was the first game in two weeks for coach Albert Hanselman s squad, but they never missed a beat as they raced to a 10-2 advantage in just two minutes of play and were up by 11 at the first stop, 26-15. The Falcons did not seem to play with the same intensity as they have in recent games. Although they did rally to close the gap to five points, 32-27, late in the second period. But the Cavs retaliated with two unanswered buckets in the final seconds to take a 36-27 lead to the dressing room at halftime. That would be as close as the Falcons would get the rest of the way. The third period spelled absolute doom for the white clad home team as the Cavaliers took total command outscoring their hosts 23-5 in the period. Culver went inside to 5'10” senior center Kim Walters and she dumped in 12 of her 16 points in the eight-minute seg ment. The locals could not find the mark in the second half and the visitors seemed to score at will. Culver continued to roll in the final quarter as the Falcons could just not keep up with the redhot Cavs. Angel Dietrich scored a career high 13 points to pace the Falcons and Tracy Legge added 10 points. Amy Stevens topped all scorers with 21 points to lead the well balanced Orange and Black scoring machine. Besides Walters' 16 tallies, Tammy Peters was also in double figures with 11 points for the winners.
