INEZ E. HAY Inez E. Hay, 93, of Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton, died at 12:15 p.m. Saturday in the nursing home. She was born August 5, 1901, in North Liberty. She married Howard E. Hay in North Liberty, who preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Edward of North Liberty; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bernice Wood worth of Mishawaka. A son, Donald, preceded her in death. Mrs. Hay was a member of the North Liberty American Legion Post 365 Ladies Auxiliary and the North Liberty First Brethren Church. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton. Burial was in Westlawn cemetery, North Liberty. WILLIAM 0. FINLEY William O. Finley, 76, of U.S. 20 West, South Bend, died at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph’s Medical Center, South Bend, after an illness. He was bom March 28, 1918, in Michigan City and had lived in South Bend for 15 years coming from North Liberty. In 1941, in Biloxi, Mississippi, he married Evelyn Mae Knowlton, who died June 18, 1979. On February 14, 1980, he married Rita A. Jones, who survives. Mr. Finley retired from J. D.’s Restaurant, Niles, as a chef and was the former owner-operator of Finley’s Case, in South Bend. Also surviving are two sons, Dennis M. and Kempton H., both of South Bend; two step-daughters, Bonnie Van De Voorde and Colleen Hammell, both of South Bend; two step-sons, Duane Jones of Aztec, New Mexico and Jonathan Jones of South Bend; three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; four sisters, Georgia Huff of Oklahoma, Audrey Reed of South Bend, Nellie Martin of Plymouth and Betty Miller of Vandalia, Michigan; and two brothers, John H. of Auburn, Indiana, and Benjamin of Walkerton. Mr. Finley was a veteran of World War II and a member of Disabled Veterans Chapter 39. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the St. Joseph Funeral Home, South Bend. Burial was in Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or any charity. Your feet can be indicators to your overall health.
