LADY FALCONS HOST TROJANS 1 AND CAVALIERS Coach Scott Hostetler's Lady Falcons start the 1995 portion of their basketball campaign hosting two extremely strong Northern State Conference foes. Triton's high scoring Trojans invade the Aerie tonight (Thursday) and the league leading Culver Cavaliers gallop into town Saturday afternoon. The Falcons put their 6-5 and 1-3 loop records on the line against coach Mark Heeters Trojans, also 6-5 overall and 1-3 in NSC play. The Glenn gals have won three of their last four games while Triton is struggling after three consecutive setbacks just before the holiday s| break. The two teams have met five u common opponents to date with the Trojans and Falcons each defeating t South Central. Argos and New I Prairie. Each club fell to Knox and ‘ Bremen. < Coach Hostetler’s squad enters the contest averaging 44 points a game while giving up 40 tallies defensively. The visiting Trojans are scoring at a 57 point clip and are giving up nearly 46 points per outing. The Falcons skipper realizes his charges will be challenged on defense to contain the Trojans offense. But he feels the key will be holding 5’9” junior forward Ann Hall in check. The Trojan lefty is pouring in around 24 points a game and is truly one of the area’s outstanding players. Hall gets plenty of scoring help inside from 5’10” teammate Amy Welborn’s 14 points a game. Coach Hostetler and his Falcons counter with Senior co-captains Tracy Legge and Renee Fisher. Legge is averaging 13.3 points a game and is fourth on Glenn's alltime scoring list with 622 tallies in addition to hauling down over 11 rebounds a game. Fisher, a speedy 5'5” guard, is scoring at 10 point pace and along with sophomore Lindsay O'Connor and junior Tiffany Hesters help keep the opposing defense honest with their outside shooting skills. The Falcons will be looking to end a five year domination by the blue and gold clad Trojans. Glenn last defeated Triton 48-42 in 1989. The two school have met on 14 occasions with the Trojans holding an 8-6 edge. Tipoff is scheduled for around 20 minutes after the conclusion of the preliminary contest which gets underway at 6 o’clock. Culver Here Saturday Coach Albert Hanselman brings his talented and senior laden team of Culver Cavaliers here Saturday afternoon with a sparkling 10-2 overall record andd 3-0 conference mark. The Cavaliers only losses were at the hands of always tough Winamac by a narrow 50-47 score and to the state’s fifth ranked Vikings of Valparaiso. 66-43. Culver led the Vikings 29-27 at the half and stayed close throughout most of the third quarter. The Cavaliers will give Coach Hostetler and his team their toughest test of the season as they average right at 60 points a game. The high scoring quintet is led by nearly 15 points apiece. The Cavaliers are also blessed with size and speced. Walters and Jill Stevens are each 5’10” and 5’3” freshman

Several other area businesses, churches and individuals donated to make this year's Darcy Stevens is very quick and runs the point for the high powered fast breaking offense. Glenn and Culver will have met three common foes this season with the Cavaliers downing Knox 85-62, Argos 72-43 and dropped decisions to Knox 68-51 and Bremen 53-46. The locals defeated Culver in their last visit to the Aerie 49-46 in overtime which was the opening game of the 1993 Bi-County Tournament. In all the two teams have met 20 times previously with the Falcons coming out on top 14 times. Culver Junior Varsity coach Theresa Jacobson, the former Theresa Northam, is second on Glenn’s girls all-time scoring list with 779 points. She returns home to lead her 5-5 jayvee team against coach Dan Hutton’s 10-2 club in the preliminary contest scheduled for a 12:00 noon start. WtnlcM Westville Tuesday Glenn takes to the road Tuesday night to try and extend Westville's 50-game streak, currently the state's longest losing skein. Coach Vicki Hannon started her third season at the helm of the Blackhawks with the string at 39 and her team is currently 0-11 on the year. This will be the third meeting on the hardwood between the two schools with Glenn winning the first two outings by lopsided scores of 50-16 and 60-17. The Falcons and Blackhawks have met only two common opponents, South Central and OregonDavis. Glenn easily defeated both while Westville lost to both. It will be coach Hostetler’s quintet’s only game of the week prior to the Bi-County tournament. Game time is set for 6 o’clock. NORTHERN STATE CONF. workshop a great success. Over 50 parents were able to purchase new toys at a nominal cost. Many would not have been able to do so, otherwise. Generosity was not limited to those who donated, but also was found by those who received. Many heart felt "thank you's” were expressed. One woman who was so grateful, that after receiving gifts for her four children, made an additional donation in case someone else may not be able to afford even the small cost suggested. As we enter the New Year, whenever we begin to think that everyone is only looking out for themselves, think again. In the Town of Walkerton, generosity is still in fashion. List Winner In N. L. 22nd ANNUAL ART SHOW AT JOHN GLENN The Art Club of John Glenn High School will be presenting its 22nd John Glenn High School Annual Art Show on Thursday. January 5. The show will be open to the public from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Awards will be presented for places first thru third in each of the following categories: basic art, drawing, illustration, painting, sculpture and photography. A "Best of Show" will be selected as well as a "Most Popular Award”. This year's judges will be Ms. Kimberly Taylor. Ms. Taylor, a John Glenn alumni, is currently an art teacher in the Hammond area.
