NORTH LIBERTY By Gladys Sheneman So sorry, I do not have any news to report this week as no one called me and I didn't have time to call anybody, so please call in your Christmas news next week or drop them off at the Drug Store in the North Liberty file for the Independent Paper. As many of you know 1 have been Mrs. Santa at the Christmas Tree Farm and for the past two weeks, we have had school bus loads of Day Care, Pre-School and Kindergarten children in each day from South Bend East Bank Day Care Center. Plymouth Washington, Jefferson, Monominee and Walkerton Elementary, kindergarten and nursery schools. We still have Tuesday and Wednesday and had eighty-some today from Plymouth, so you can see Santa and Mrs. Santa have really been busy. 1 only hope there will be enough of that Power Ranger (stuff) for all the boys and girls that ordered it,as that is the hot item this Christmas. Well it's my bed time, but 1 do wish all my readers a very Merry Christmas and a Healthy Happy New Year in 1995. . Please call me next week, as I will be home. Happy Holidays and God Bless you all. Donna Balsley is now home from St. Joseph Hospital where she had to have an emergency gall bladder surgery on Friday, December 9th. They tried the new method with laser, but her largest stones were too large so she ended up with a six inch incision also. Her daughter, Tanya, and grandson Nathan, spent three days with them. Continue to pray for her but she is beginning to feel much better.

PROPER WAY TO DISPOSE OF USED NEEDLES A SYRINGES The Town of Walkerton recently received information on the proper way to dispose of syringers. Place your needles, syringes, lancets and other sharp objects in puncture proof, hard plastic containers you can t see through. Or use metal containers with lids reinforced with tape. Lids that screw on tightly are best. Then place the sealed container with your trash — never in a recycling bin. Other disposal tips are: 1. Reinforce soft plastic lids (such as

coffee can lids) with heavy-duty tape. 2. Never use aluminum cans to dispose of sharps. 3. Do not use glass or clear plastic containers. Glass breaks. Drug users can see needles through clear plastic. 4. Never clip needles with scissors (the points can fly off and be lost) unless using a device that holds onto the needle. Syringers, needles, lancets and other sharp health care products—and the containers used to hold them — should never be recycled.
