GLENN WINS IST GAME: Top BOBCATS 60-45 The John Glenn Falcons won their first game of the season Saturday night riding the crest of a tide of free throws for a 60-45 victory. Brian Lyle scored 31 of Glenn's 60 points, including 14 of 20 efforts from the charity stripe, 17 coming in the second half. The victory made the Falcons 1-2 on the season with a pair of home games awaiting this weekend. The Bobcats slipped to 2-3 with the loss. Scoring was low in the first half with the Falcons holding a 9-8 lead after one period and extending this to a 25-19 halftime advantage. The second half turned into the “Brian Lyle Show” as he connected on six of his eight baskets in this half along with 13 out of 17 free throws. It was 41-30 after three, and the constant parade to the free throw line in the fourth quarter was the story of the second half. Lyle finished with 31 points on eight of 14 from the floor, including one three pointer, and his 14 of 20 from the line. Neiswender did reach double figures with 10 points for the Falcons while Payne led the Payne led the Bobcats with 16 and 11 respectively. Two Home Game* For Glenn The Falcons will open their home basketball season on Friday night with a visit from New Prairie in another Northern State Conference game. On Saturday, a good South Bend Riley team will visit. Game times are 7:00 on Friday for the B-Team and 6:30 Saturday for the Riley meetings. J.G.H.S. Music Dept. Announces Christmas Concerts
The John Glenn music department is in full swing for the upcoming Christmas holidays. The department will host two holiday concerts featuring a wide variety of performing groups. Each group will be performing music to put you in the holiday spirit. On Sunday, December 11th at 2:00 p.m. the John Glenn High School Concert Band, Concert Choir, Rhythm Express Show Choir and Jazz Ensemble will entertain you. On the following Monday, December 12 at 7:00 p.m. the Urey Middle School Concert Band, Concert Choir and Sound Sensation Show Choir will provide holiday entertainment. Both concerts will be held in the John Glenn High School Auditorium. Admission is SI.OO. Gold, blue card members, pre-school and senior citizens will be admitted free of charge. Come and get into the holiday spirit with a dose of Christmas cheer from the music department at John Glenn. Merry Christmas! Christmas Craft Series At The Walkerton Library Wendy Dittmer will be doing a series of Christmas Craft programs at the Walkerton Library. The programs are for children in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade. Pre-registration is necessary, and there will be a limit ot 1U children per session. You may call the Library at 586-2933 or come in to register for the programs. The craft times will be from 4:00 p.m. through 5:00 p.m. December 13th and 20th Make Your Own Christmas Tree Ornaments is the theme for the December 13th program and December 20th the children will be designing their own Drummer Boy Drums. For this craft we are asking that children bring their own cofee can or oats can with lid. All of the crafts make great Christmas presents, or keep them for yourselves to decorate the house. AMY PAUL CHOSEN D.A.R. GOOD CITIZEN H Hr i V Amy Paul, daughter of Harold and Linda Paul, of North Liberty, has been selected as the DAR Good Citizen for John Glenn High School. Amy was one of 17 seniors nominated by the faculty as Good Citizens candidates. Members of the senior class then voted to choose their Gass of 1995 Good Citizen. She was chosen on the basis of the four qualities of a Good Citizen: dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. Amy will now move on to the next level of competition locally for a possible chance for state or national scholarships offered by the National Society Daughter of the American Revolution. Amy has received her DAR Good Citizen Pin and will be recognized at the awards ceremony this spring and at a reception held by the Tippecanoe River Wythougn Chapter DAR in April. Amy demonstrates the four qualities of a Good Citizen through all of the school and community activities in which she is involved. As a school leader, she is president of her senior class and the art club. She demonstrates her service and dependability through her involvement with peer helpers, National Honor Society, Spell Bowl, and the ecology club. She shares her art and creative writing talents by working on and making contributions to the Aerial literary magazine, school newspaper, and art displays at John Glenn High School. As the delegate to Hoosier Girls’ State last summer, she had the opportunity to work with the democratic process first hand. She shared this experience with other candidates for Girls’ State when she made a presentation at the Ladies' American Legion Auxiliary meeting this fall. Amy plans to attend college next fall and will major in the area of history, political science, or education. Sher is interested in a career in law or in teaching. SALVATION ARMY FOOD DRIVE BY N.L SCHOOL 6TH GRADERS There is a Salvation Army food drive given by the North Liberty Elementary School 6th graders. Please donate any non-perishable food items to the North Liberty Drugs or at the North Liberty Elementary School. About 50 percent of the world population is expected to live in cities by the year 2000. In the U. S., that figure will reach 85 percent.

COUNTY PARKS OFFER CROSS COUNTRY SKI LESSONS Cross country ski lessons for beginners will be offered by St. Patrick’s and by Ferrettie/Baugo Creek County Parks throughout the winter season as snow conditions permit. The two hour lesson will cover equipment, clothing, safety and basic movements on skis. Enrollment in each class is limited; preference will be given to those who have registered in advance. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult also registering for the class. Cost for the lesson is $lO for those who have their own equipment. N.L. Chamber Os Commerce Plans Decorating Contest Decorate your home or business for the Holidays. You may win a prize. The North Liberty Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the “Christmas Decorating Contest" again this year. We will be judging the Businesses for a revolving trophy, the homes for $50.00 first place. $25.00 second place. The judging will be done during the week of December 25 through December 31. The winners will be published the first part of January. SEASON TICKETS NOW ON SALE AT JOHN GLENN Season tickets for the 1994-95 basketball season are on sale in the office at John Glenn High School. The season tickets will also be sold at the first home basketball game against New Prairie on Friday. December 9. Boys basketball season tickets are SIB.OO for adults and $12.00 for students. Season ticket does not include tournaments. The single game ticket price for boys varsity basketball is $3.00 for both students and adults. Senior citizens residing in the John Glenn School Corporation are eligible for a complimentary allsports pass to all home athletic events except tournaments To qualify , persons must be 65 years of age or older and must receive their ticket in person at the John Glenn High School Athletic Office. Santa Claus Comes To North Liberty Dec. 17th Santa Gaus will be arriving at the Libery Township Fire Station. North Liberty, on Saturday, December 17 at 10:00 am.
