NORTH LIBERTY By Gladys Sheneman On November 12, twenty members of North Liberty Chapter 290 Order of Eastern Star met at Daus Essenhaus Restaurant for a delicious dinner. All enjoyed sharing news of their families and friends. Stan and Mary Schlemmer attended their grandson’s, A.J., 7th birthday party at Burger King. Along with his mother, Kay Schlemmer and Lorraine Beron and some friends. Rod Krallman, of North Liberty also joined them. They had fun, enjoyed a birthday cake and ice cream. and Ruth Finch went to Al’s Diner for breakfast recently. As we are neighbors of Evelyn and she is moving soon to Mishawaka as she sold her home here. She will be closer to her one son, Dick. We will miss you, Evelyn, in the neighborhood. Janice Wozny, of Birmington, Alabama, spent the weekend with her mother, Aletha Croy. Other Sunday dinner guests were her son, Bob of Plymouth, Frank and Leanne Taber and daughter, Olivia^ of Valparaiso. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Clark spent Sunday with their daughter, Tina and family in Cassopolis, Michigan. Just talked to Allen Limerick and he had just received word that his father, William Limerick, came through his operation fine. Bill and Shirley Limerick arrived in Sebring, Florida last week. So please remember him during his recovery. Tish McCormick spent the weekend in Indianapolis taking care of her grandson, Alex, while his parents Bill and Lori were gone for the weekend on business. Well, as you all know Thursday is Thanksgiving and 1 feel that we have so much to be thankful for this year. Our weather has been great till about 5:00 Monday morning and did it ever rain, blow and hail. We have had a bountiful harvest of crops, apples and vegetables. I
am thankful for life and for all the blessings God has bestowed on me and I’m thankful for all you friends. God bless you and happy Thanksgiving. Many relatives and friends of Clark and Mary Dare attended their open house on Sunday afternoon at the Tyner Odd Fellows Lodge. They were married on November 24, 1949 in LaPaz and have been happily married for the past 45 years. They have two daughters, Pam and Marsha, who hosted the lovely celebration for their parents. A beautiful decorated cake, punch, coffee and nuts were served. So best wishes from all your many friends. Alice Tepel and her husband returned home to San Jose, California, Sunday after being home for the the past week due to her father’s death, Perle Lappin. Janeice Sherrick returned to her home in Lighthouse Point, Florida, James returned to Arlington, Texas, and Ronald to Greenville, North Carolina. Please remember the family in their loss and Evelyn will not be selling peanut brittle this year here in North Liberty. Did you know that Lavon Oglesby had the misfortune of falling on November 11 and breaking her hip and is undergoing therapy in St. Joseph Hospital, 215 W. 4th Street, Room 508, Mishawaka, Indiana 46544. Just received word that Les Foreman (89) who use to live here in North Liberty passed away last week in Tucson, Arizona. Please remember Flora and their two sons, David and Jerry. Her address is 5811 E. 33rd Street, Tucson, Arizona 85711. About 25 over the age of 70 met out at the Church of Christ Tuesday where all enjoyed a bountiful pot luck dinner together. After the dinner they were entertained by Madelyn Nelson, Charlie Myers, of Teegarden, and Gladys Sheneman who was in charge of the program. All enjoyed singing "Count Your Blessings" and "Over The River and Through The Woods” and then our special guest, Joyce Halt, dressed up like an old farmer and gave a reading entitled, "When The Frost Is On The Pumpkins.” All enjoyed the old familiar songs to

On Wednesday Deloris Pippen - ger and Gladys Sheneman spent the day in Plymouth where they shopped at K-Mart and Aldi’s and then enjoyed dinner atg Christo’s Restaur an. From there we drove out to Shady Rest Home to see Caudie and Loretta Beagles and Thelma Eckert, then called on Kenneth and Martha Lemert, then on to Pilgrim Manor where we visited with Lola Pavey, Lillian Kaiser, Lucille Hocker and Mrs. Hoover. It was a day to remember. The volunteer firemen and their wives put up the town’s Christmas lights Sunday afternoon. They will start lighting them after Thanksgiving. Congratulations and best wishes goes to Kenneth and Martha Lemert of Plymouth who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 27. They have four children, Larry, of North Liberty, Fred of Lakeville, Kay Williams and Sally Bottorff. They are well known in the Tyner and Teegarden area. Merry Manor, Walkerton. His funeral was Monday at the Blissville Church and was buried close to his home in the Barber Cemetery. I will always remember Woody for his baseball playing, my how he loved to play ball. Kent Shoemaker and friend, Lori, of Indianapolis, spent the weekend with Gene and Norma Patrick. Ethel Rauen returned home Saturday after spending the past 2*/» weeks with Bob and Rosezella Dietrich in Kissimmee, Florida. While there she spent a weekend with Bill and Ruth Bauman and also got to see Dave and Marge Trobaugh at Lake Placid. They also saw Bill and Shirley Limerick and Gene and Mary Springman at Sebring.
