MICHAEL C. ALBERT Michael Charles Albert, 12, of 101 Sunset Drive, Walkerton, died at 10:45 a.m. Monday in his home after an illness. Michael was a student at Urey Middle School. He was born January 23, 1982, in LaPorte and was a lifelong area resident. He is survived by his parents, Kari (Cripe) and William Lee Albert, at home; paternal grandmother, Martha Albert, of Walkerton; and maternal grandparents, Leah and Charles Cripe, of Walkerton. He was a member of the school band and basketball team, Walkerton Little League and Walkerton Junior Bowling League. Services were held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael Charles Albert Scholarship Fund, in care of John Glenn High School. RUTH L. DREESSEN Ruth Louise Dreessen, 82, of 5501 E. County Road 1100 S., Hamlet, died at 12:10 p.m. Saturday in LaPorte Hospital after an illness. She was born December 28, 1911. On March 2, 1935, she married John C. Dreessen, Sr., who died September 15, 1992. Surviving are three sons, Carl, of Walkerton, John, Jr., and Jerry, both of Hamlet; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five sisters. Dolma Goble, of Knox, Wilda Wisler and Mary Mitchell, both of Valparaiso, Alta Harness and Lois Diedrich, both of LaPorte. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, walkerton. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Walkerton.

JOSEPH R. JANKOVEC, JR. Joseph R. Jankovec, Jr., 69, of 68501 Poplar Road, died at 11:17 p.m. Sunday, November 13, in Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Fort Wayne, after an illness. He was born October 25, 1925, in Chicago, and lived in Walkerton for 60 years, coming from Chicago. Mr. Jankovec was a retired farmer. He is survived by three cousins, Henry Krejci of Hawaii, Dorothea Burges of California, and Lillian J anovic of Hamlet. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 189 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1130. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Military services were conducted by the American Legion and the VFW. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 189 or V.F.W. Post 1130, LaPorte. CHARLES OGLE, JR. Charles "Red" Ogle, Jr., 68, of Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, formerly of North Liberty, died at 3:50 a.m. Wednesday in the nursing home. He retired as a farmer and from Tamarack Nursery. Mr. Ogle was born November 14, 1926, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident. Surviving are a sister, Betty Parks, of Walkerton, and two brothers, Jim, of Walkerton, and Robert, of North Liberty. Graveside services were held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, South Bend. The Forest G. Hay Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. WOODROW W. COCHRAN Woodrow W. Cochran, 81, of 1503 Union Road, Walkerton, died at 8:50 a.m. Friday in Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home, Walkerton. He was born February 7, 1913, in Marshall County and was a lifelong area resident. On March 15,1935, in Mishawaka, he married Ellen I. Campbell, who died May 14, 1992. Mr. Cochran was a retired die setter with Arrowhead Engineering and Metal Stamp. Surviving are two daughters, Anna Listenberger, of Plymouth, and Mary Jo Singleton, of Walkerton; two sons, Woodward, of Walkerton, and Gilbert, of Orlando, Florida; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; a sister, Nina Anderson, of Texas; and a brother, Curby, of Walkerton. Mr. Cochran was a member of the Tyner 1.0.0. F. Lodge 821 and played baseball in the 1930’s and 1940's for Studebaker Athletics, Hoosier Beers and Walkerton Merchants. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the Blissville Church of the Brethren. Burial was in Barber Cemetery, Marshall County. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation. WILLIAM C. DINI William C. Dini. 73, of 11135 E. Circle Drive (Koontz Lake) Walkerton, died at 5:15 p.m. Saturday in LaPorte Hospital after an illness. He was born March 31, 1921, in Oak Park, Illinois. On November 8, 1947, in Chicago, he married LaVerne Marshall, who survives. Mr. Dini was employed as a pressman and foreman by the Chicago Sun-Times for 16 years. Also surviving are two daughters, Joyce A. Egan, of St. Charles, Illinois, and Elizabeth C. Aelick, of Indianapolis; and a son, William D., of Niles. Illinois. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Chicago Web Printers Union Local 7, Koontz Lake Lions Gub and the Stroke Support Group of LaPorte Hospital. Services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. VIOLET LUCILLE DRAKE Violet Lucille Drake, 80, 70223 St. Rd. 104, Walkerton, died at 10:06 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Hospital, South Bend following an illness. She was bom March 12, 1914 in Tyner. On October 5, 1933, in Walkerton, she married Paul Verdene Drake, who died October 31, 1975, Mrs. Drake was a homemaker. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Judy Bryson, of Brevard, North Carolina, Mrs. Patricia Tomb, of Merrillville, and Mrs. Paula Hazen, of Plymouth; one son, James Drake, of North Liberty; four grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Martha Stahly, of Walkerton. A brother, Francis E. Snyder, preceded her in death. Mrs. Drake was a member of the Walkerton Woman's Community Gub. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, in the NusbaumElkin Funeral Home, Walkerton, with Rev. Paul Mcßride officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, of Walkerton. Friends may call from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home. EVA M. MINKER Eva M. Minker, 93, of Miller's Merry Manor, Walkerton, formerly of Hamlet, died at 11:45 a.m. Friday in the nursing home after an illness. She was boro November 25, 1900, in Belleville, New Jersey. On June 13, 1923. in Belleville, she married Otto Mink er, who died March 30, 1974. Mrs. Minker owned Hamlet Pioneer Store for 22 years. Surviving are a son, Otto "Teddie" of Plymouth; a foster daughter, Helen Johnson of Rancho Palos Verdes, California; three grandchildren; three foster grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; A son, James G., died in 1978. Private services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Burial was in Fletcher Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Starke County Scholarship Foundation. JANICE H. SHIDLER Janice H. Shidler, 61, of 13823 Tyler Road, Lakeville, died at 5:5( a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph’* Medical Center, South Bend. She was born January 1, 1933, in Huntington, Indiana and was a Marshall County resident for 43 years. On August 26, 1951, in Etna Green, she married Robert Shidler, who survives. Mrs. Shidler worked 10 years at Ristance Products, Bremen. Also surviving are a daughter, Amy Shidler, of Fort Wayne; a son, Brian, of Jackson, Michigan; two grandsons; two sister, Betty Stauffer, of Phoenix, and Judy Lease, of Warsaw; and four brothers, Russell Gabaugh, of Fort Wayne, John Gabaugh, of Columbiz City, Max Gabaugh, of Etna Green, and Jerry Gabaugh, of Melbourne, Florida. She was a member of the Teegarden First Brethren Church and Marshall County Right to Life. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the Teegarden First Brethren Church. Burial was in Fair Cemetery. The Johnson Funeral Home, Plymouth, was in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Marshall County Right to Life.
