tribution techniques. More than 6000 Girl Scouts will be taking orders for cookies in St. Joseph, Marshall, La Porte, Starke, and LaGrange Counties in Indiana, and Berrien. Branch, Cass, St. Joseph and Van Buren Counties in Michigan. The Girl Scout Cookie Sale provides an opportunity for Giri Scouts to help Giri Scouting. Giri Scouts is one of the few large, not-for-profit organizations in the world that raises the majority of its operating funds through a strong and proven program activity. In each council, a volunteer board of directors makes all decisions about how funds are spent. All the proceeds from the sale are used to benefit Giri Scouting on a local level. In addition to girl achievement recognitions and troop proceeds that troops can add to their treasuries to pay for 'extras' such as skating parties and trips, cookie sale proceeds make Giri Scouting possible in the Michiana area by funding such basic expenses as volunteer recruitment, support and training, insurance, property, program development, membership and registration. A much-anticipated annual event, the Giri Scout Cookie Sale has become an American tradition. Proceeds from the sale of Giri Scout cookies support local Giri Scouts in a variety of activities, including environmental service
