18 Candidates Vying For Glenn Girls Varsity Cage Slots John Glenn’s girls head basketball coach Scott Hostetler announces that 19 girls are vying for varsity basketball positions for the 1994-95 edition of the Falcons which open at home on Tuesday, November 8 against a good South Bend LaSalle quintet. Senior letterwinners returning are Renee Fisher and Tracey Legge along with junior monogram winners Crystal Brooke, Tiffany Hesters and Alicia Allsop. Sophomores are Lindsay O’Connor, Angel Dietrich. Tracey Futa and Ojeta Oke. Freshmen competing are Hiedi Wasteney, Alexia Drews, Julie Daube. Bridget Honaker. Danielle Ludwig, Johanna Hathaway. Holly Legge, Share Oke and Jennifer Payne. The Falcons lost Dara Cisney to graduation from last year's 7-11 team but return starters Legge and Fisher. Legge at 5’9" is a four year starter and two time all-con-ference player as well as the team’s leading scorer and rebounder last season. Fisher, a s’s’’ speedster at the guard slot, is starting for the third straight year and is the second leading scorer and an allconference selection last year. The other three starting positions are up for grabs, but it appears 5-3 sophomore O’Connor has the inside track at the point guard. Hesters, a 5-3 outside shooter and part-time starter last year is battling sophomores Dietrich and Futa for the other back court slot. Dietrich and Futa are noted for their fine defensive play and both are good shooters. Brooke at 5’9” and Allsop, 5’9”, are expected to give plenty of help in the front court. The Falcon skipper is also given the freshmen members a good lok too. Coach Hostetler reports that this year’s squad is working very hard and he is very enthusiastic about his team's chances of posting the first winning season in over a decade at the school. The squad is busy preparing for the season opener as well as the annual girls basketball jamboree at Bethany Christian on this Saturday night with a 7 o’clock tipoff. Teams competing in the four team affair in addition to the Falcons are the host Bruins, the Lions of Bremen and the Mishawaka Marian Knights. According to information received by athletic director Mike Clark, Bethany Christian will meet Bremen in the first period with Mishawaka Marian and Glenn tangling in the. Bremen and Glenn will then square off in the thrid frame and Bethany Christian and Mishawaka Marian will close out the night in the final quarter. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are
