COUPLE TO CELEBRATE 50TH ANNIVERSARY MF , B Mr. and Mrs. John Whitmer, of North Liberty, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 30th, in the Fellowship Hall of the North Liberty Church of the Brethren. John Whitmer and Donna Lowry were married October 29, 1944, in South Bend. The Rev. Faye Plummer officiated in the ceremony. The Whitmers have five children: Shirley Betz, Kathy Daugherty. Shelby Whitmer and John Whitmer. Jr., of North Liberty and Betty Wolff, of Fish Lake. They also have six grandchildren and six great-grandchilren. Mr. Whitmer is semi-retired from building contracting. Mrs. Whitmer has enjoyed her role as a homemaker. Both Mr. and Mrs. Whitmer are members of the North Liberty Church of the Brethren. Friends and family are invited to the open house. No personal invitations have been sent. The company of friends and family at the open house is the only gift requested. Halloween Tricks & Treats At The Library Everyone is welcome to come to the Walkerton Library’s Halloween Party on Saturday, October 29th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Wear your costume and join in the fun. Children will be playing games like Pin the Tail on the Witch's Cat and Penny Pitch Thru the Pumpkin. Thre also will be a costume judging contest, and of course lots of treats! All ages are welcome this week since there will be no story or craft, but we do ask that children under three come with an adult. Story Hour is from 11:00 to 12:00 every Saturday through November 19th. Ages 3 and up may attend. Parents are welcome to join in the fun or if their child feels confident enough, they can leave them here with us. For more information call the Library at 586-2933. GOSHEN COLLEGE REP. No invitations have been sent. Marjorie Joyce Awald and Dale Franklin Knepp were married October 28, 1944 at the Grovertown United Brethren Church. They have three children, Linda Fuchs, of Mishawaka. Jerry and Michael Knepp, of North Liberty; and five grandchildren. Dale retired in March 1986 from Wells Aluminum. Marjorie retired in December 1986 from Wells Aluminum. The couple request no gifts, please. Your presence will be your golden gift to them.
