PLAN TOWN MEETING ON THE TOWN’S FUTURE What is it that keeps you in your community? If you were in charge, what would you do to make your community better? The answers to these questions, and the relationships between them, make up your own definition of quality of life. And that definition can be as different for people and communities as the colors of this fall's leves. Early this summer, a small steering group from Walkerton chose to take part in a challenging process to create a clearer roadmap of your community’s priorities and future opportunities for a better quality of life. This process, the Total Quality of Life Initiative, involves citizens and local leaders in examining such diverse issues as schools, public improvements, senior services and natural resources. It helps the community to integrate and reach consensus on these issues. It is based on the democratic notion that the more people participating in setting a community’s course for growth and prosperity, the better that roadmap will serve the needs of a broad cross-section of citizens. Your opinions are being invited in a Town Meeting on Thursday, October 20, at 7:00 p.m., at the Walketon Presbyterian Church. 512 Georgia Street. I strongly encourage you to attend this meeting to tell the steering group if their views reflect your own vision of Walkerton’s quality of life, and the things that could make it even better. Your view are important in shaping your community’s future. 1 thank you for your interest and citizenship.
