The Oregon-Davis Jr. Varsity Cheerleaders took home the third place trophy at the cheerleading competition at Six Flags Great American. The girls are coached by Brenda Minix and Becky Pflushaupt. Feature Halloween At Local Library Story Hour This month Saturday story hour will focus on Halloween ... (of course). Children will be hearing Halloween tales, making monsters and pumpkins and even having a Halloween party. On Saturday, October 15th, the children will get to hear "The Vanishing Pumpkin" by Tony Johnston and "A Tiger Called Thomas" by Charlotte Zolotow. After stories they will make fearsome monsters made from pumpkin seeds! Saturday the 22nd, the children will get a chance to design their own paper bag pumpkins. They will paint bags orange and white the bags are drying they will be hearing some spooky Halloween tales. After the stories children will get to paint their idea of what a jack-o-iantern should look like on their bag. Finally, they will stuff their bags to look like nice fat pumpkins. Bring a smock for this one. A Halloween party with costumes is what happening on Saturday, October 29th. Children may come dressed in their costumes for games, treats and a costume judging contest. Story Hour runs from 11:00 to 12:00 every Saturday through November 19th. There is no registration necessary for story hour. Ages three and up may attend. Parents are welcome to stay and join in the fun, or if your child feels confident enough you may leave him with us. For more information call the Library at 586-2933. R.E.A.L.
