penalty aided Culver, backing the Falcons up an extra 15 yards for the opening kick and the Cavaliers put their first drive in motion from near midfield. It took six plays, with Ron King breaking a big 35 yarder right at the start, and then capping the drive with a 6 yard run on a key fourth down play. A try for two by passing failed, but the winless Culver Cavaliers had a 6-0 lead with just 2:57 played in this game. The Falcons fought back, mainly behind their defense as they stiffened up for the rest of the first half. However, the offense wasn’t very productive, but they did manage to move the ball into Culver territory far enough for Thomas Stitz to kick a 26 yard field goal. This cut the lead to 6-3. The Falcon defense almost completely shut down the Cavaliers the rest of the half, holding them to only one first down and three punts. One of these punts by Culver was a very short punt, well in the second quarter, giving Glenn fine field position. An all-running attack then found paydirt as Nick Medich carried the ball in from 12 yards out for the Falcons' first touchdown. Stitz kicked the point after and it was 10-6 with less than three minutes left in the half. The first half finished this way, but that didn't stop the game from staying tight throughout most of the second half. After the Falcons failed to sustain a drive after the second half kick, Culver moved the ball well, taking it deep into Falcon territory, thanks a lot to two 15 yard penalties, just 30 of the 100 yards Glenn had assessed against them in this game. However, after moving deep into Glenn real estate, a fumbled snap from center resulted in Glenn taking over. They moved to the Culver 47 yard line when Medich took a handoff, put a couple of moves on the defense and ELLIOTT FRASH, O.D. ran 47 yards for the touchdown on the last play of the third quarter. Stitz was again true with his kick and it was 17-6 Glenn after three. The winless Cavaliers didn’t quit. On Glenn’s next possession, another of the Falcons fumbles was covered by Culver and they took over on the Glenn 26. They moved right in for the score and with a touchdown by Chris Coburn and a two point run by King, the Cavs were right back in the bailgame, 17-14 with 7:40 still to be played. Culver then tried the surprise, an onside kick. However, the Glenn team was alert enough to cover the ball at midfield and they then ground it out to the end zone with Ed Pontius carrying the final two yards for the game clinching score. Another kick by Stitz made it 24-14, forcing Culver to have to score twice to get back in the game. As it resulted, Glenn was able to add another field goal real late in the contest to set the final score of 27-24. Medich was most of the offensive show for Glenn. He rushed for 214 yards on 29 carries. The Falcons only gained 246 overall as the had no passing yards, trying on two passes for the game. Host Bremen Friday The Falcons will host Bremen Friday night in the season’s final regular scheduled game. The Lions were defeated in a thriller by Jimtown last Friday, giving the Jimmies at least a share of the Northern State Conference title, but Bremen is the only team to score on Jimtown this year and are another very good football team. Kickoff for this, Parents/Senior appreciation night, will be at 7:30 p.m. The Scoring CULVER: Ron King, 6 yard run; PAT: pass failed GLENN: Thomas Stitz, 26 yard field goal GLENN: Nick Medich, 12 yard run; PAT: Thomas Stitz, kick
