Rodwell’s two notrump asked for a clarification, and three notrump showed a weak two with a good suit, which, given Rodwell’s hand, had to be spades. Forrester led a low club, and declarer took East’s nine with the jack The three of spades was led to dummy’s king, which held, and the spade queen was taken by West’s ace Forrester then found the only return to threaten the contract — another low club. With ordinary play, the contract would now have failed After taking East’s ten of clubs with the king, declarer would try to reach dummy's good spades by leading a diamond. Rodwell continued with a low diamond and Forrester, fearing his partner might have started with the A-10 doubleton, ducked again This allowed declarer to reach dummy, and he scored the rest of the tricks Note that even if Forrester had taken his king of diamonds and cashed the club ace, Rodwell still would have made nine tricks and his contract for an excellent result.

I adore the show, “The Nanny.” However, I’m not that familiar with the star, Fran Drescher. Does she really talk like that, or is it just for the character? I really can’t believe anyone would sound like that in real life! Terry N. A Terry, dear, you’ve obviously never visited New York City, par ticularly the outer boroughs (Brook lyn. Queens, the Bronx) If you did, you’d hear women who sound like that on a regular basis 1 Anyway, Fran does indeed have a nasal Queens accent When she first broke into show business, she was told to lose the accent or she’d never be a success However, Fran felt this compromised her uniqueness and sense of humor, and she was obviously right “The Nanny“ is a runaway success for CBS By the way, Fran’s original career choice was to be a hair dresser Lucky for us, she changed her mind 1 Have a question?
