WALKERTON AND LINCOLN TWP. HAVE FIRE INSURANCE EVALUATION
ISO Commercial Risk Services recently did a survey to evaluate the Town of Walkerton and Lincoln Township for new fire insurance classifications. Both agencies re* ceived better ratings. Town Os Walkerton The Town of Walkerton, formerly Class 8 applied, has now improved their protection class to Class 7. The new classification will result in a decrease in the property insurance premium calculations for many insured properties within Walkerton. The new classification will be effective on September 1,1994. The overall effect is usually a decrease of about 10% for specifically rated joisted masonry commercial buildings. For dass rated mercantile buildings of the same type of construction, a decrease of about 8% can be expected. However, variations in construction, occupancy and private protection can result in increases or decreases from these averages. The effect on residential properties is usually

a decrease of 13% for frame home-owner-type policies. Lincoln Township Lincoln Township, formerly Gass 10 applied; the new classification has changed to Gass 9. The new classification will result in a decrease in the property insurance calculations for many insured properties within the township. The new classification wil be effective on September 1, 1994. The change from Gass 10 to Gass 9 will reduce property insurance premium calculations for typical mercantile properties to a degree depending upon the type of building construction, occupancy and other rating factors. The overall effect is about a decrease of 7% for masonry joist buildings. In a class rated property of the same construction, the effect will be about a decrease of 33% The effect on residential properties is usually a decrease of about 24% for frame homeowner-type policies. The above estimates apply only for insurance companies using ISO/CRS property insurance premium calculations, mium calculations. To Select Delegate For Hoosier Girls State Once again it is time to select a delegate for 1995 Hoosier Girls State at Indiana State University at Terry Haute in mid-June. Orville Easterday Unit 189 at Walkerton will entertain John Glenn junior girls and their mothers at an orientation on Thursday, October 6 at the Post Home at 407 Indiana Street beginning at 7:00 p.m. The interesting program should be concluded by 8:00 p.m. Presenting the program will be 1994 Hoosier Girls State delegate Amy Paul from John Glenn and Mary Pat Kindt, delegate from La Ville High School. Both girls are outstanding speakers and will relate their experiences this past June at Terre Haute. Mary Pat is well known in Walkerton as she is a graduate of St. Patrick Elementary School here. There are two governing bodies known as the Federealist and Nationalist, and each Girls State Citizen must file for an office where she will learn government in action as she practices the duties of the office to which she has been elected or appointed. The week will be an actual experience in the process of self government as it operates in Indiana and rules are followed in this regard.
